Striving for Balance

I am a married Mom of two boys ages 7.5 and 6. I work full time and my fitness has always been important to me, albeit on a fluctuating basis.

I quit smoking for the 5th and hopefully LAST time this past December 19 - a gift to myself for my 41st birthday. I have since gained 15 pounds. Prior to the quitting, my goal weight was a mere 11 pounds. Now I'm looking at 26!

I don't believe in diets. Moderation is the key; however, I AM discovering that some foods, even in moderation, can trigger a binge for me. I definitely have some emotional eating issues and am beginning to address them in reading 'Shrink Yourself - End Emotional Eating. Forever!'

Hey Dawn! Sorry I missed your post.
Thank you for responding. You do sound rather down and determined right now and thats a good thing--but it sounds like you are WHITE KNUCKLING It...thats ok, but its not good for the long haul--thats exhausting!! What is really going on? is it the fear of something in your life that is making you eat, do you think?? I think its a good thing that you are doing 1 chapter at a time--that way you can work the program slowly and thoroughly...I raced through it all first at one time--then went back and did it slowly.
For now, lets take a look at Dr. G's blog---I have them posted under DR. G's BLOG--LETS DISCUSS....the more we learn from each other, the easier this gets!!

Hope you've had another great day today! And that you're finding the time in a busy day to check in with Shrink Yourself online! I'm finding it a great program too, but since I spend all day online at work, I try not to have a lot of screen-time at home - which makes it hard to fit in the time on SY... But the main thing is to remember the tips and habits and apply them, bit by bit. This is for life, not just a few weeks, after all!
