The Adventures of a Dieting Grad Student

The thing about being overweight is that there is a very interesting juxtaposition between how I feel in my skin. On one hand, I am hyper aware of my body, hyper aware of the space I take up, my inelegance. But at the same time, being overweight makes me feel unaware of the power I possess, the grace that can come from everyday living.

I'm looking to meet that person that went into hiding when I was a little girl. I'm looking to meet the little girl that loved to run all over the playground and never thought for a second that she wasn't strong and fast. That was carefree and ready for adventure.

I am done with my weight holding me back, of making me feel like a stranger in my own skin.

I want to glow from the inside.
I want to drink deeply from life.
I want to have a romance with myself.

I am ready for this adventure.

Hey! I just was browsing your page and saw that you want to diversify your sources of protein. Have you ever tried 'quinoa'? It's an incredibly complete source of protein and amino acids. It can be added or substituted to so much!

I haven't been writing for a while... my brain is so cluttered (you'd think I'd get the hint), but I really admire the work of Alice Notley, Lynn Hejinian, Amiri Baraka, Harryette Mullen and way too many others to name.
