"One Day At a Time" has been my moto for most of my life. Somewhere along the way I forgot, your motivational e-mails have helped me remember. I will need all the support I can get. With Fibromyalga I quit moving years ago. The meds put weight on faster than anyone could imagine. I don't eat fast food or junk food, (cookies aren't junk are they :)). I enjoy cooking. I sing two days a week as a volunteer for senior's and for fund raising. The name of our group is the "Silver Threads". I don't have silver hair yet, but I know it's in my future. I spend a lot of time with these senior's and they have energy to dance and sing in their seventies and eighties. I want that for me ten to fifteen years from now. In the future I intend to Dance, Laugh and Love and continue Singing.
I'm one year into my program and am now setting new goals. Last year I could hardly walk and this year I'm dancing. My confidence has grown so much with the weight loss. I'm now Past President of the Silver Threads Senior's Club. In the past I was just a member of the Choir in 2015 I performed my first solo since 1983. July 2015 my Papu died of a massive heart attack. He was my walking partner. That month I had signed a lease to move to town; a place on the river where I could safely walk with Papu. Shock! Good thing I was busy packing and I decided to move everything in my car. I sold all the big things except my dining set and my bed and dresser and a few other items. It took me to September to get in and settled. My friends brought the large items at the end. Long story short I made my bad knee worse. My weight stayed the same while waiting for the transplant (April 15 2016) but since then have gained 20 lbs.Now we are into July and I've encountered a set back with my knee. Except for a few stretches. There isn't much I can do. Several little walks with my new dog Gibbs (The Boss). The worse is I can't stop eating mainly because I've got cabin fever and bored to death.

My Goals:


Before snow comes back again I wanted to increase my walking to three times a day.2016
Get back to regular exercise routine of strength training. This summer.
Be ready by fall to sing another solo.
Take part in the relay race for cancer in 2017.
Go back to the singles dances this winter.2016
Wear my purple gown for the red hat Christmas.
New goal get some pictures done and posted.


My Program:
Track meals.
Pilates in the morning before anything else can distract me. Every other day. As soon as the Physiotherapist allows.
Walk the dog daily, and explore new routes. Increase speed and distance as I can.



Personal Information:
I live in Durham, Ontario Canada. Have been single since 1991. Still sing with the Sliver Threads Choir. Volunteer at Abbeyfield. Have recently become treasurer of Durham Red Hats.
Love animals, Have adopted a dog named Gibbs (The Boss). Doxie/Chi cross. Being 9 in Oct 2016 he isn't as active as he could be. He is cuddly and only leaves my side to cool down and to sleep in his bed.
Goals reached: Got rid of the some meds. Now have normal blood pressure.
Walking without ankle pain. Sang first solo since 1983.
Lowered my resting heart rate.
Adopted my dog.
I have a social life.(working on this)


Other Information:
I am a collector of mice. The smallest one is about the size of the finger nail on my little finger. The biggest is about eighteen inches. Other things I collect are spoons, thimbles, brass minatures. I read a lot and no longer have the room for book collecting, so bought a reader.

    Just stopping by to say hi & wish you continued success on reaching your goals. Have you sung your solo yet? Hope you've been getting outside (weather permitting!) & enjoying the sun & fresh air. Gardening & yard work is a priority here, not always possible with all the rain though. Have a "sparkling" day! emoticon

    Hi Dianne!!

    This is the first post again in nearly two months...my PC crashed, my Mom passed away my Dad crashed his car and he now is moved up here with me....life changes everywhere...didn't know till now that I became BWOTW and I find that all the posts are amazing! Thank you! and if there is any good news it is that thru all this mess I MAINTAINED MY WEIGHT!!!! So, now am ready to start tracking again to lose those last 25-30 lbs!! Bear with me tho cause I don't think I will be doing much more on the site just yet...but I will be back shortly.

    Thank you for your open mindedness about pole fitness in the exercise poll! I took it up at 61. My husband loves it. I even have my own pole at home. I would love to bungee jump. Haven't done that yet! I also want to do trapeze and silks, but the closest school for that is too far to go on a weekly basis!

    My daughter has bungee jumped and was asked while waiting her turn if she knew anyone else who would try it. Her reply: "I''m sure my mom would!" However, she doesn't approve of my pole fitness!
