Working It Out

I recommitted to SP right around New Year's 2012. My challenges are emotional eating (happy, sad, stressed, you name it, I can eat about it) and making time for myself. I'm married, work full-time and have identical twin sons born in 2003. Things are going quite well on the other fronts of my life and now it's time to focus on being healthy.

Thank you for the group recommendation -- the only issue I sometimes have with mindful eating is its associations with Buddhism (and I know Roth bases some of her practice on this as well) and I am a Christian. So I do not agree with the foundation of some of the practice as well as certain recommended practices, so I end up doing a little of my own thing by drawing on biblical sources and recommendations for practice. But there are similarities in principle or motivation for mindful eating, especially, being accountable for things you say and do (including eating), living in the present or today, etc. So I will check it out and see how it goes -- thanks again!

I'm happy that my blogs are helping others... One of the biggest thing that struck a key for me was how we as women have a tendency toward 'self-focused coping' and so for me the blogging is a way of externalizing it a bit... and feedback like yours makes my day... because while I'm struggling, I take comfort in the fact that I'm also helping.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I guess I needed to hear that...

PS - when you post comments back on your own SP page no one sees it (it's not like Facebook). And for the team - we hope/ask that no one shares or likes with Facebook as we like to keep it more 'private'. I don't share my stuff from SP on FB because it's so negative over in FB land. SP is great in that it's non-judgemental and always supportive.

Glad you found the team! Have a wonderful day!

Helene
