I have many goals, dreams and aspirations.
To be able to function, use my body to do the work and play I want to participate in. To love fully and unabashedly give of myself and my time and energy. Therefore... Fitness is a primary goal.
Yes, I want to lose weight. My doctors think I am unrealistic about my goal weight, but I honestly do not. I know my height and what my healthy weight once was. I remember being fit and trim. I may never be 120 pounds of solid muscle, ballet dancer I once was, but I think it is reasonable after many years of being mobidly obese to be 150 pounds. Yes, I know that the assault of being morbidly obese has increased my bone density and that I simply weigh more on the inside than your average bear.
I choose today to have mini goals. Daily, weekly and monthly. And seasonal, every 4 months, to check in with myself and reevaluate me, my life and my progress along this path less traveled.
10% of my weight in 4 month increment
Being status post gastric surgery as of June 14, 2007 I am committed to focusing on Protein first, then Veggies and then Fruit. To take the vitamins I need to stay healthy for the rest of my life.
I do not do processed foods, sugars, flours, most grains. I simply do not feel good when I eat them, and they bring on the phenomenon of cravings.
Artificial sweetners literally hurt my belly, I do not do them.
I have given up snacking between meals.
I aspire to eat, work and love like my ancestors. I am very old school. About 3000 years or so, old school.
Paleo with a twist, yes.
No S Diet with a protein focus. I strive for organic, local and whole foods.
My doctor's suggestion is this, if anything lands in my mouth, that is when a meal begins. So if a bug flies in my mouth, I need to eat a lot of bugs, or whatever, to ensure it is a nutrient dense meal.
Committed to not drinking anything 30 min before, 30 min after eating
I am a native of New Mexico, which will always be one of my sacred places on this big beautiful planet.
As a travel RN, I spent a lot of time in Utah and came to fall in love with the state and the people there.
Recently moved from Washington State to Colorado, to be nearer to family. This is where I have my surgeries, as there are some great magnet hospitals here and I have the love and support of my family.
I am scheduled for the first of my Total Knee Replacements. Am very excited about this surgery, as my bone spurs have me currently walking like a very sad 99 year old. Looking forward to full range of motion again and being back on my bicycle!
No more bone on bone in my knees will be true liberation. I will always have physical challenges, but intend to be the best me I can be. I intend to live simply, to simply continue to grow old gracefully and enjoy making a difference all along the way.

Thanks for joining the renegade Living Binge Free group where the scale and calories DO NOT rule. We aim first simply not to binge and keep moving toward consistent moderate enjoyment of all foods, inching ourselves away from processed to fresher and whole. We determine where we are in the ratio as we go, knowing that extremes lead to pendulum swings. It takes longer than most want, but we're here to hold your hand!
