Welcome to my SparkPage. It's been over a year since I joined Spark People, and I am so happy to be here, still tracking and working on my health.

I started with SparkPeople hoping to (maybe) lose 50 pounds. After seeing all the success stories, and seeing my pounds start to come off, I quickly changed my goal to 100 pounds. I had a setback and regained 24 pounds over 2 years with a family crisis, but am back on track, and coming within range of my goal.

Welcome to my SparkPage. It's been over a year since I joined Spark People, and I am so happy to be here, still tracking and working on my health.

I started with SparkPeople hoping to (maybe) lose 50 pounds. After seeing all the success stories, and seeing my pounds start to come off, I quickly changed my goal to 100 pounds. I had a setback and regained 24 pounds over 2 years with a family crisis, but am back on track, and coming within range of my goal.

Today, I'm at 74 pounds lost, and having lots of fun pulling out saved clothes, trying them on, then hanging them in the closet because THEY FIT! (It's been so long, what went out of style is sometimes good again.)

Most importantly, in the last year I have been able to quit four prescription medications, one being a twice-daily pill for fibromyalgia pain, and am working on getting prescription-free. Having been unhealthy for 25 years, this doesn't come immediately, but every little improvement is appreciated.

SparkPeople helped me start losing weight when nothing else was working for me, and I'm very grateful to the entire community for the tools and support. So welcome all you sparkers, and let's get going to a healthy day, a stronger body, and a longer, happier life.

My Goals:
Health is my primary goal, from which I can achieve my other goals: travel, family and friends, and community involvement.

My Program:
I am learning a whole new way of living, and setting goals for a healthy, more satisfying life.

I track my nutrition every day, focusing on whole foods and low sugar choices, and avoiding processed foods.

Exercise is mostly walking. I walked my first 5K this fall, and am looking forward to walking a 10K. I also have exercise DVDs, and a gym membership that kicks in July 2011.

My long-term fitness goal is to run a mile, around McKinley Park. I secretly hope that goal changes to running a 5k, but am holding out for that goal until I get close to the mile.

Personal Information:
I live in Sacramento, California. I am retired and occasionally volunteer for non-profits. I love to read, cook, sew, watch movies, and travel. Lately, I've been designing jewelry, mostly making bead-embroidered earrings, bracelets and pendants.

The Harden girl sister's cruise in October. Aunt MaryAnne, Aunt Nancy, Aunt Sharon, Aunt Betty , Dana, Heather, Deanna (David's girlfriend) and myself are all going. Oct. 2nd to 9th. Mexican Riveria............. Which means I only have 3 months to get in shape..........YIKES! emoticon

I think sometimes people that have tried, and failed (for a variety of reasons) appreciate the work I have put into my journey. More and more, I am being careful of who my friends are.
