Hi. I am reaching for my goal of achieving a healthy weight with a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.

I am developing arthritis in both ankles and knees so it was a challenge to find exercise that I could do on a regular basis. I was lucky to find that the local YWCA had made the addition of a warm water theraputic pool and that has been a godsend! I am able to do water yoga, water aerobics and water jogging 4-5 times a week.

I also have diabetes so it is difficult at times to regulate hunger and energy level. So for an eating plan I am eating 5-6 balanced and nutricious mini meals a day. I try to combine lean protein, fiber and at least one fruit or veggie with each meal.

Stress plays a big part is how I feel as well, and too much stress tends to undermind my healthy routines. I am exploring various forms of stress relief such as arometherpy, yoga, developing positive self talk, guided meditiaton, Tai Chi (which is very very relaxing when practiced in the warm water pool) enjoyable, creative hobbies (soap making, beading) and most importantly gratitude.

Motivation is difficult at times. We all have low points, so I am reaching out to the Sparks Community for the support of kind, bright and creative members to share this journey with.

Fitness Minutes: 895

My Goals:
My goal is to loose 10% of my body weight initially, which I have already done. I then plan to maintain this weight for 3 months to learn how that is done. Then I will work on the next 10 % and hold for another 3 months. At that point I will evaluate how I am doing and feeling and consider loosing an addtional 10% and final loss.

Wish me luck! It will be a long process, and hopefully a rewarding one.


My Program:
I am maintaining a calore range based on my current body weight. I multiply my body weight by 10 calories to determine daily calorie intake for weight loss. When I am in maintenance mode I multiply body weight by 12 calories to obtain maxium daily calorie consumption. This is a new process for me and I may need to adjust calories down some, but I am determined to loose weight slowly and healthily, to allow my body and metabolism to adjust and to maintain a healthy weight for the rest of my life.

I am also finding that I am an emotional eater. This is perhaps my biggest challenge for I have been been using food to calm myself since I was a child. I am a relative novice on the subject, however I am reading several books on the topic and continue to learn and grow slowly beyond old patterns that have held me back from who I can truely be.
