30 and downsizing

So I tuned 30 January 14th. Is it possible for something to feel surreal and all too real all at the same time? Everyone always says I look younger than my age, which is a little frustrating when I get carded for trying to buy allergy medicine, but in general has become something pretty good in my book these days. However, here I am heading for the summer of my 30th year, and in the worst shape physically than I've been in over 7 years. This is not the pattern I was hoping for going into my ...
This is not the pattern I was hoping for going into my 30's. Now more than ever I'm realizing how important it is to become healthy on the inside and feel good about myself on the outside.

CAN you teach a 30 year old girl new tricks? :)

30 years of bad habits, I have discovered, are hard to break! I have been very successful in the past but I have never been the best at living a balanced life. I have a habit of counting calories but not eating balanced. Eating processed starches instead of fruits and vegetables. A wealth of calorie knowledge does not a healthy eater make. Without learning to eat balanced I've learned it's going to be an uphill battle of trying to balance bad eating with an amount of exercising that I can't maintain. Enter the weight watchers PointsPlus program, which encourages unlimited fruits and veggies with a balance amount of carbs, protein and dairy. Unlike the regular points program, apparently carbs cost more than before, fruits and veggies are free, encouraging you to reach for fresh snacks. It's week 2 and I've lost 5 pounds!†

I have a long way to go and a lot of habits to change, but I'm trying something new. Slow and steady and HEALTHY, wins the race.

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by to say hi! It was cool to hear more about your story and that you can identify with trying to maintain a healthy, active life style in the midst of injuries. Itís definitely not easy and can be very discouraging. Itís been 5 years ago (almost exactly) since my knee surgery and I STILL have frequent problems with it :( I really have to focus on the positives and just be thankful I am still mobile and able to be active when I can be!

Iím glad you are back on Sparkpeople and would love to keep in touch and help motivate each other! I am trying to get into better shape before a cruise I am going on in 47 days (not that Iím counting). My goal is to feel confident and comfortable in a bikini (every womanís dream, I know), but it is actually going well! I have been eating pretty cleanó98% of the time, and working out consistently (esp. when I donít feel like it) for about 3 weeks now and am feeling the difference! I can definitely say Iím getting there. How about you? Any specific goals now that you have more time on your hands?

Hi! Just a shout out to congratulate you!

You are the recipient of the Beautiful Woman Award!!

"Once you've been given this award, you have to paste it on the page of 8 women who deserve it. If you receive more than 3, you know you're really beautiful! If you break the chain, nothing will happen, but it's always good to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out!"

Again, Congratulations Beautiful!
