Lori's gotta lose some weight....seriously

I went to my work holiday party in December 2012 and was shocked to see one of my co-workers who works off site (I usually only see her every few months at department meetings). She was the same size as I am a year prior but had last 110 pounds and looked fantastic!

I asked my co-worker who lost the weight to mail me a copy of her food tracker chart that she was using. I spent the last week of 2012 research and sampling recipes that were low-fat, low-card, low-calorie and that ...

I asked my co-worker who lost the weight to mail me a copy of her food tracker chart that she was using. I spent the last week of 2012 research and sampling recipes that were low-fat, low-card, low-calorie and that I could actually see myself eating long term. I stumbled upon a recipe blog on Sparkpeople.com and found it to be an excellent resource.

My Goals:
Me and another co-worker who share my office decided that we needed to get on the weight loss bandwagon! I am tired of feeling ugly, fat, tired, my sore knees and back all the time!

Wish me luck.

My Program:
I've decided to exercise at least 30 minutes a day but not to overdo it and injury myself. I'm a big gal and I need to take productive and healthy steps towards exercise because I'm out of shape!

Personal Information:
I live in Maryland with my two daughters and my furry son, Jasper (a miniature schnauzer).

I have no back yard, so walking Jasper daily is a must, and that is a good thing for me!

Other Information:
I'm inspired by a Vincent Van Gogh quote that I will have to repeat every morning...If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.

Here's the link for the Rice and lentil cassarole. I hope you like it.

Stairs are a great way to get some extra steps in and I envy your ability to skip soda - I'm addicted to Diet Pepsi.

I have my Remicade infusion today. I'm hoping that it will make me feel better and that will motivate me to get moving!

My husband and I love this recipe - I add some minced garlic to it and it's really great.

I have been under the weather too. I think everyone is - it's going around. I think I've been walking too much - a solid hour each day with my hubby. My legs are protesting terribly each night - kept me up all night in pain last night, so I gave it a rest today. I'm hoping it's not too cold to get out there tomorrow.

I think I'm gonna try the rice and lentil cassarole tonight. Have you tried that one yet?

It has been a week and I've lost the weight of a newborn child...6 lbs.

Tried yoga yesterday and it was very relaxing and yet, I felt like I got a good workout....stretching and such. I didn't wake up sore today, so I must have done it right.

Had a large dinner last night (still within my goal) but I learned something....to break big meals up because I found myself hungry by 8pm. I tried a trick that Dr. Oz mentioned, I drank a glass of warm water. Apparently it tricks the stomach into feeling full. It worked, strangely enough!
