After dying April 22, 2005 from cardiac arrest and being shocked twice by co-workers to bring me back....I feel I have to do everything I can to keep the new stents in my heart open and my body healthy. I got a second chance for some reason....I have to be healthy long enough to find out why.
For the last couple of years since I fell on the ice, it has been a challenge to exercise. My hip and leg hurt. I kept thinking it would get better. Finally, the end of December 2009, I went to my knee surgeon (double knee replacement in 2002) for a check up. He did x-rays of my hip and it was replaced Jan. 4, 2011. So, less pain when exercising should help my results! Another chance to be healthier!!!

Personal Information:
I am a wife, mother of six grown children and grandmother of 14. I teach elementary art in two schools and work part-time as a dispatcher/jailer and am an EMT-Intermediate for our local ambulance service. I also write the sports news for our local newspaper.

Since my heart attack, I have a new perspective on life. I look at what is really important and don't sweat the small stuff. Life is too short not to enjoy the journey while we are here.

Both of my parents had open heart surgeries. Both had multiple bypasses and the aorta valve replaced. They both have since passed but I respect the strength it takes to recover and stay healthy.

You have an inspiring story. For the first time I am at the point where my fear of a heart attack or stroke outweighs my desire to look better. That is my motivation for healthier eating and exercise and loosing weight. Thank you for welcoming me!
