No more excuses!

I don't know about you, but I am SO tired of saying, "I should really lose some weight." I've said that so many times that I now have nearly 60 pounds to lose. That's why I'm here...I'm looking for motivation, recipe ideas and possibly some new friends.

Update 13 March, 2013: 20 pounds lost! I'm so pleased!! Yes, it has been hard work, but it has also been a JOY to take control of my diet and lifestyle. Imagine that...honest work yields results!

My Goals:
I would like to lose at least 50 pounds, though 60 would be ideal. My mother always said that "a woman should weight 100lbs for the first five feet and five pounds for every inch after that." If that's true, I'm WAY off the mark. However, I'm heading for a healthy weight that is certainly achievable.

My Program:
I am currently in Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet. I love South Beach because it is very practical and it seems sustainable over the long term. Giving up refined sugar is not something I ever considered (or even thought possible), but life goes on and the weight comes off!

Personal Information:
I am an American expat living in Glasgow, Scotland. I am a stepmother to two boys, aged 11 and 14, and one of my biggest challenges of living with three males is not to eat like them!

So far, so good. I am doing well with getting my exercise in. Progressing. I am more focused than I have been in years.

Our weather has still been so up and down. I want to plant more things in the garden but am afraid to!! I don't want to lose them. I'm feeling a lot better though and am making more small changes.

You are so right. As a nurse I learned that there are some people you can never please and they are the same unreasonable people you encounter in your job. I can't imagine someone wasting the kind of opportunities these people have to travel but I'm sure they do. I'm certain that you have to be very patient and tactful to deal with these people. I have great adventures close to home too. I am fortunate to live in a pretty area. We have a fox too! Love them! I hope you have a wonderful week!!

Thanks for your comment on the new scale... maybe it is an overlap but how can something be muscle and water... or fat and muscle at the same time? It is really curious. Wow... Your water is really low... I was wondering whether to try some naturally diuretic tea to try to get it down. I don't know though. I also drink plenty of water and am often thirsty. Our bodies are simply very different to one another, and that's good so!
Have a good day.

I'm sure you have to deal with a lot of cranky people with your job. I'm a retired nurse so cranky people were the norm for me. Your job would be an adventure to me. I would never travel like you do nor will I ever get to see the amazing things you do.
