Determined to get there

Hi...am 59 year old female that has been working on this since February 2008. Have lost 35 pounds and going to the gym is something I look forward to...great stress reliever but I couldn't do it without my IPOD...and trainer.
Three kids...one daughter that just graduated college in December, a son that is a senior in college and we our youngest is in his sophmore year at the same university. I have a terrific husband who is very supportive ...he works out a lot and knows the addiction. ...

I'll never go back to where I was in 2008!

My Goals:
After keeping under 140 for a couple years, I am now up to 146. No bueno.
Stressful autumn but not going to let that be an excuse. Number one goal is to remain healthy and number two goal is to get lean. Won't even mess with a specific number on the scale.

My Program:
I strength train with free weights 3x a week. I work out with a trainer but I only meet with him about every 4-5 weeks to change sets, touch base and check form. I do spin class 2-3 times a week.
I jump rope for at least 10 minutes (still working on building up endurance on that one) No, I cannot jump for ten minutes straight.
I use a stationary bike or the elliptical.
I take pilates/yoga once or twice a week.

I journal my food but have gotten kind of lazy and will be back on track starting today.

Personal Information:
I am fromTulsa, Ok but I grew up in Ohio and lived in Connecticut for a while.
We have three children.
I teach the gifted and talented program at a public elementary school.

Hey! I take magnesium before I go to sleep as well as Tranquility Complex by Quantum-RX. I don't know where to buy it, I get it through my doctor, but it is herb based and nothing that affects hormone levels like Melatonin, etc. It seems to work OK for me. Also I put blackout curtains in the room that I sleep in and that helps a LOT too.

thanks for the blog comment! I TOTALLY agree. People say "Teachers need to model the uniform" and I say, "No, I model how to dress professionally and appropriately while still maintaining a personal style."

I'm also at a Title I school, we have lots and lots of School Improvement Grant type stuff, and we are a Race to the Top school. Unless they are willing to send half the student body home, they'll never manage uniforms.

And...soapbox away! I love talking education with people in the field...People who think they are experts because they went to school, not so much :)

Hi Pat! Thanks for the thoughtful comment on my blog post...I do tend to forget that this process has its ups and downs, and that I can't let myself get complacent! I think sometimes life gives us a kick just to remind us to be aware, and mindful. Although I've come so far with being mindful, I still have a long way to go; the rest of my life, actually...

I'm making progress with finding a project to engage my mind and my body; read my blog today if you're interested!

Take care!

Thank you for your words on my blog. It's reassuring to know others have gone through this and made it to the other side. I am wondering how to do that right now. I know we will make it - just don't know what shape we will be in when we get there. I hope you have a great weekend.

Hi, good to hear from you again! I'm fine. The weather is not too bad here at the moment - the temperature tomorrow is supposed to be about 50. We had a lot of snow in December - glad that's gone.

Have a great week!
