I share my home and life with 4-footed friends - 2 cats (Starkist & Shadowspawn), & 3dogs. My little dogs are smallest dogs I''ve ever had - Shalako the Pomeranian, Samurai the Papillon, and Spartacus the rescued chihuahua (also known as "the little weasel"). I recently (Jan 2017) adopted a chihuahua/Boston terrier mix, Sharona. I'd forgotten how active & destructive puppies can be! We''ve been walking about 30 minutes to 2 hours daily.

I got the lap-band surgery in Nov 06. So far, I''ve lost over 120 pounds (3/9/10). Recently changed my end goal to even less. (155). Sigh ... about 25 pounds have found their way back.

I''m an RN and work 12 hour night-shifts - boy, does that throw your metabolism off! I have things planned in the daytime for my days off, and have to sleep in the daytime on work days. All the tips for improving sleep say "set a routine and stick to it". Uh, huh - that'll work.

My Goals:
Mini goal - I'm gonna bust thru 200 by the end of July!! DID IT!!! 7/13/09

Finally made 2 separate week weigh-ins of less than 175 - yeah! 3/14/13

Get in shape so my knees don't keep stressing.

Guess I'd better give up on retiring any time soon!

My Program:
Walking my little dogs every day. Throwing in strength exercises while I wait for the sniff breaks for them.

Personal Information:
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.
Groucho Marx

If man could be crossed with the cat, it would improve man but deteriorate the cat.

I always like a dog so long as he isn't spelled backward.
G.K. Chesterton

Other Information:
I'm a reader. Can't go to the bathroom without book in my hand (even if I don't open it in the little room). Love my cats and dogs.

When you don't think the program will work, remember the motto: Try it our way for at least 6 weeks and if you are not satisfied we will gladly refund your misery

emoticon Enjoy the weekend! I'm going to get outside and work in the yard! Dandelions are out in full force all over town. I picked a nice bouquet of long-stemmed ones to give to woman at the Senior Center today! We all got a big laugh out of it!

You for the nice post you made on my recent blog.

Ah, Trivia Night... the guy who organized our team got married, and his wife objected, so... the rest of us do still occasionally go, but it is not as organized or anything.

Meri, thank you so much for reading and commenting on my KAPUT blog. I was struck by how many people mentioned in their responses that they had been through the same thing. I also received private messages from people who did not leave a public comment. And this is probably just the tip of the iceberg. Life can be very lonely and daunting, and it's hard to keep our spirits up through it all.

I haven't been keeping up with the NM weather, though I do have your local time on my list of places where I want to know what time it is there (bad sentence, sorry). Anyway, do you have SAD the way I do? I get depressed every single winter, but this past one was worse than usual, maybe because I did not have work to keep me from approaching the edge of the abyss. Another big thing for me was persisting in thinking that alcohol would help. Yeah, it helps for about two hours, while I'm drinking it, but for the other twenty-two hours of the day, it gets me down. I mean, what kind of crazy person treats depression with a DEPRESSANT? One week alcohol-free has cleared my system. I might drink again on special occasions, like Christmas and NY's Eve, but there's no reason to sedate myself almost every night and feel depressed and sleepy the next day after doing it.

I hope your PCP visit uncovers no underlying problem. I hope your slump is just a passing thing. Just know that I wish you well and appreciate your support so much. And I really, really appreciate your anti-depressant blogs!
