Hello everyone!
I am a happily married father of 2 teen girls, and have had type 2 diabetes for over 12 years. I am an avid outdoors lover and especially enjoy trips with my family. Recently, my blood sugar levels have improved, but I still have discipline issues at the refrigerator and the gym. I look forward to meeting people here and hope we can encourage each other to meet our health goals!

I love your profile picture! You seem like a guy with a great sense of humor!

I've only been diagnosed as type 2 for three years, but my husband has been a type 2 for about the same number of years as you and he's had some permanent problems because he didn't take his diabetes seriously. With my dear husband as a horrible example, I take my diabetes very seriously indeed and try hard to manage it.

I myself just started using this site in July, and I'm finding it a big help at bringing my fasting glucose down. Once I started tracking what i ate, I saw how my little treats added to my carbs for the day. When I cut out the treats and kept my calories down, and started going to the gym 3-4 days a week, I started to lose weight and my blood sugar improved a lot!

From your page, it looks like you like getting outdoors too. My husband and I go hiking almost every weekend here in southern California. I like getting my exercise that way more than going to the gym!

You've got a great attitude, and I know you will be successful!

Sparks research has shown that people who use the Community (Message Boards, SparkTeams, etc.) tend to lose more weight on average than those who do not. So what are you waiting for? Start posting and get your weight loss going!
