I'm Denise, age 51 and divorced, and I live in east Texas.

In March of 2000 I was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 and after years of struggling with insulin, much difficulty controlling blood sugar, and weight loss/gain, in May of 2011 I finally learned I actually have Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults or LADA. It's Type 1 of adulthood and is sometimes called Diabetes Type 1.5.

In March of 2000 I was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 and after years of struggling with insulin, much difficulty controlling blood sugar, and weight loss/gain, in May of 2011 I finally learned I actually have Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults or LADA. It's Type 1 of adulthood and is sometimes called Diabetes Type 1.5.

In September of 2011 I got an insulin pump with which I have a love/hate relationship. It allows me the freedom to eat a more 'normal' diet than I used to but it also makes poor dietary habits and insulin abuse way too easy. For me, those equal weight gain.

I eat a moderate carb diet, heavy on low carb vegetables and light on grains, fruit, and meat. My last A1c was 6.5 and while that's good and considered "controlled", I'd like to once again be in the Under 6 club.

I need to exercise more and I know it. I have Walk Away the Pounds DVDs and a lovely walking trail across the road from my home but do I go there? Rarely!

Goals:

Walk on the lovely trail across from my home for at least 30 minutes three times a week and do Walk Away the Pounds for at least 30 minutes on the other days.

Lose 45 to 50 pounds before September 30 of 2014

Have and maintain an A1c under 6.0

My Program:

Hi Denise! Unfortunately, my Spark Activity Tracker broke and fell apart. I no longer use it and contacted SP about a new one but they said it was no longer under warranty. It was nice while it lasted but since it only lasted 5 months, I can't really recommend it any more. Sorry!
