My 13.1 dream became a reality on April 30, 2011!

I did it!!! On Saturday, April 30, 2011, I ran my first half marathon. I completed this goal after trying and failing to complete the C25K program several times. It was only after heading outside to run that I began to enjoy the activity. I started my *official* training in January and was derailed for several weeks in March-April due to a lower back injury. I didn't let that stop me and did what I set out to do - Cross that FINISH LINE! It took me longer than some, I took plenty of walk ...

I didn't let that stop me and did what I set out to do - Cross that FINISH LINE! It took me longer than some, I took plenty of walk breaks, but I finished a half marathon! The sense of pride and accomplishment that I gained from those final steps across that rubber mat cannot be described in words. I know it's cliche but believe me when I say this - If I can do it, ANYBODY can! It's amazing what our bodies can do if we just set our minds to it, take our time to train and treat it right.

Two Year + Update (1/4/11):
It's been a long time since I've made any changes to my SparkPage. It's amazing how fast time flies! Over the last 2 years on SP, I've lost a total of 50 (well, 45 after the holidays!) pounds and have gained the motivation to make 2011 the year I meet my health goals. I have 30-35 lbs left to lose, which puts me at a healthy 130-135 lbs. I will meet this goal by training to meet another - I will run the Country Music Half Marathon this year! I have always wanted to be a "runner" but never thought I could be. Losing 50 lbs and spending time on Spark has made me realize that I CAN do it. There is absolutely no reason I can't! I'm going to do my best to stay active on SP all year, without taking the little "breaks" I've taken in the past 2 years. In order to meet my goals, I know I need SP!

One Year Update (10/1/09):
Tomorrow is my one-year SP anniversary and the 21 month birthday of my second child. It's hard to believe that a year has passed already, so much has happened! Why is it that the older you get, the faster life goes.

When I started this SP journey last October, I really wanted to be at goal by my one year anniversary. Well, that didn't happen. My goal was to lose 80 lbs. I actually lost 30. And, really, I'm totally ok with that! I managed to get down as low as 175, then life got in the way for awhile and I gained 5 lbs back. I'm back, again, to making sure I have time for me and my health and I'm determined to continue to lose. Eventually, I'll make it to my goal of 130 lbs. Who knows, maybe I'll be there by this time next year. Or maybe I'll make it by next summer. Maybe it will take me another two years. I'm really not worried about it. I know it will happen.

My focus has not changed. There were times this past year that I lost my focus, but what I plan to focus on remains the same. My goal for this coming year is to try to keep that focus more often than not and to not forget about me. Sometimes that is easier said than done, but I'm blessed with a truly supportive husband, wonderful children and an amazing support group that BBC and Sparkpeople have provided. With their help, I think I can do it.

Original Intro (10/2/08):
The pregnancy and birth of my second child wreaked havoc on my body! I gained WAY too much during the pregnancy and lost WAY too little in the last 9 months. I'm determined to get healthy for my kids.
