And so it begins...

1/11/2012 - The Biggest Loser Challenge begins today. I'm taking this chance to push myself harder and become stronger. After suffering through a long, drawn-out injury with my knee (a recurring problem), it's been hard for me to get back into the swing of things both mentally and physically. But I'm ready to challenge myself over the next 12 weeks to do so. No more disappointment or moping over the injury and being held back. It's time to move forward.

After suffering through a long, drawn-out injury with my knee (a recurring problem), it's been hard for me to get back into the swing of things both mentally and physically. But I'm ready to challenge myself over the next 12 weeks to do so. No more disappointment or moping over the injury and being held back. It's time to move forward.

A little about me.. I am in my early twenties, a recent college grad. I may be young, but deep down I'm just an old soul. The kind of person who plants gardens and knits scarves, listens to Dinah Washington, and loves cats.

I'm currently working in a senior retirement community. I love the work that I do, and have been working there for almost a year now, and I love the people I work with. Eventually, though, I hope to be able to do something with that degree of mine (film/photography). Who knows when? For the moment I suppose I'm happy enough where I am. Plus, the seniors really know how to throw a party! I'm really just looking to feel more energized, happy, and invigorated by life. And Sparkpeople is helping me accomplish that.

My Goals:
To remain consistent even when I mess up or have bad days.

My Program:
No pills, no teas, no magic beans. I'm doing it the old-fashioned way. I do cardio as often as I can, at the very least 3 times a week, go roller skating on Sundays and Wednesdays, and am looking into purchasing a bike to use for commuting to work during the summer.

If it's not water - I don't drink it. I make the occasional exception for fruit juice, but only if it's freshly squeezed.

I'm also working on adding more fiber to my nutrition plan. (Doing pretty good at that at the moment. I now need to shift the focus to fruits and dairy.)

Personal Information:
Small town girl with big city aspirations. Loves every vegetable known to man, I dare you to find one I won't like.. okay I'll admit it there may be one..(beets=frowny face) Enjoys roller derby, film noir, and taking care of business.
