Me and Gordon after climbing to the top of Diamond Head in Honolulu, Hawaii last month.

My weight has remained stable for a long time no matter what I do, and my doctor says to ignore the BMI (which says I'm obese) and just keep on doing what I'm doing. I am exercising six days a week and watching my diet. My lab reports are consistently good. I have a lot of energy--seldom feel tired. I am losing inches, just not pounds, and going clothes shopping is almost a pleasure again. My goal is not to gain any weight.
To stay healthy, eat better, and have some fun.
I do stretches every morning, and I walk 6 days/week. I walk with the Volksmarchers (ava.org), some friends 1X/week, and meetups (firstname.lastname@example.org). I'm on SP's 10K/day team, which is very motivating. I have started back with WT at Gold's Gym.
I have always lived in St. Louis. I've been married for 30 years to Gordon, a very patient man. We have two adult children and two grandsons, 22 and 9, who live in Albuquerque. I retired from teaching high school, but then helped a friend at her preschool for 3 years. I am very much enjoying retirement.
Favorite TV shows: The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, John Oliver, Bill Maher, Samantha Bee's Full Frontal, and Stephen Colbert's Tonight. We obviously like news satire.
Favorite books: The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel, Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon, The Help by Kathryn Stockett

Thanks for stopping by my check-in.
Yes, I did have a happy birthday. As you say, the funeral did cast a bit of a pall over it, but I did made the best of it, and had a nice evening with my aunt and cousin playing cards and watching Netflix.

The cold snaps (30 degrees or so ) happen every so often....seems like more and more lately. Once when we moved where we are now, 8 years ago, we had a winter of 18 degrees nightly for 2 weeks. Now that is really unheard of. It has even snowed a bit up north in the past. The thing about FL is it always bounces back, thank goodness! But, we get so cold when it happens, not used to temps like that, We shiver when it is 60-65 and wear jackets. It is the weirdest thing we have ever went through. We have been in 30 below temps in Ohio, when we lived there and I swear I feel colder here when it is 50! All the people down here say that too.
If it weren't for the snows up there, I wouldn't mind moving back up north. At least the bugs go away for longer up there during the fall and winter! Not here! Oh well, still like it here for the most part. Have a good day!
