Living a healthier life

Since I had my gastric bypass almost 4 years ago, I have noticed a gradual slipping back into old eating habits. I am now happy to have found SparkPeople for motivation to get back into my healthier lifestyle that includes healthy food and exercise.

My Goals:
To learn to make selecting healthy, nutritious foods as natural as breathing in and breathing out.

My Program:
To lose a few pounds slowly while learning to cook and eat in a manner that will continue this new lifestyle.

Personal Information:
I live in lower Alabama with my husband, who is a wonderful man! I have a daughter and son, both grown with their own children. Who knew that grandchildren would be so great! I have many wonderful, loving supportive friends and family. We live on a couple of acres and I am slowly learning how to plan and harvest without pesticides and fertilizer. That has lead to learning how to preserve. I am loving it!

Other Information:
I love to read cookbooks and cooking magazines. My favorite TV programs are cooking shows, Warehouse 13, Eureka, Royal Pains, Burn Notice, Project Runway, The Next FoodNetwork Star, Aarti Party...well, I'm sure you are able to follow this trend

Hi Deb and welcome to Sparks.

This is a great place to be. There are many here that share similar experiences that you can group up with. Don't forget to check out the groups. And on your start page, Sparks always lists an "insider" secret that is well worth checking each day. Today's is especial good, cause it shows you how to add foods to a favorites list so you don't have to keep searching for them.

Also, on your weight lost journey, don't forget to have patience with yourself. You will find you have good days and bad days.

Once again...
Welcome

KathyP

I was 54 when I joined SparkPeople and 56 when I came back and started my Spark Program, starting with Stage One. This is a one day at a time program, but if you do the SparkPeople Program Steps, it really does work. I am terribly average, it's the SP program that is extraordinary.

I found logging my foods in the Nutrition Tracker helped me to lose 90 lbs in 16 months! I started at 210 and went to 120.

I hung clothing that was too small on my closet door and every time I would get discouraged I would try them on. Week by week they started fitting! That kept me motivated.

Welcome aboard, we really are all in the same boat! Sometimes we can sail right along but sometimes we have to be rowing like crazy!

You can make it happen! SparkPeople really does work!

Linda

I am so excited to be the first to comment on your page~very cool! Yes, the picture is of Palm Desert, California. I went there on vacation a couple of years ago, and I fell in love with it. I loved everything about it, even the heat which as like 105 in June. I hope you really enjoy it in October. I would love to go back!

Welcome to Spark, too! I added you as a friend, I hope that is ok. I explored your page as well, and we like some things in common it seems!
