Aloha! I technically joined Spark in 2012, yet it wasn't until July 2015 that I made a commitment to become an active member on the site. Most of my journey to wellness had been on my own, yet spark has been invaluable for teaching me about health, fitness, and nutrition. The sparks of some amazing women have truly made this journey a little easier, and a whole lot more fun!

I am 57 years young, I plan on growing old later! For decades I was morbidly obese; over the past 6 years I have lost...and kept off 60+ pounds. To say my weight loss has been slow is a major understatement. I battle genetic tendencies towards obesity...throw PCOS in the mix, I essentially have zilch for a metabolism. Just means I need to consistently show up and do the work for any magic to happen. Both of my knees were replaced when I was 47, thanks osteoarthritis! Since then I have been working towards strong, fit, and healthy...powerful to exercise your strong. Sweat is magic, exercise endorphins...yes please! I do believe there is an athlete in each of us...just have to jump waaaay outside of your comfort zone to find them...they want to play!

Fitness Minutes: 2,847

My Goals:
My goal is to lose inches, pounds, fat, and bad habits as I gain muscle, strength, endurance and a healthy BMI.


My Program:
I wear a Fitbit Charge2 to monitor my heart rate and daily activity level. What an eye opener and motivator.

I use MFP to track all food, water, and nutrients! I am jumping off the calorie cycling nightmare as it just does not work for me. Honing in on macronutrient nirvana, avoiding my kryptonite, and honoring hunger cues and signals! Yep, a work in progress...

I work out at least five times a week using a mix of cardio, strength, and stretching. Core work is crucial...a cardio kickboxing sculpt workout is my preferred way to sweat. Love the workouts from Shelly Dose, Jessica Smith, POP SUGAR Fitness and AngieFitnessTV on YouTube. Strong is hot, being fit matters!

    Do "The Help". It was so much fun as an audio book.

    Orrrrrr, one of the Janet Evanovich books, the Stephanie Plum series, read by Loralei King. She is brilliant, playing out all the parts. Absolutely hysterical. You would never believe it was one voice doing all the voices.

    I'm telling you, with experience, it's the best way to travel, instead of changing radio stations as you travel from state to state. Much more worthwhile and fun, too! As long as you can still concentrate on all the fools on the road, you're good.
