I Want to Live!

Why am I here? I need to stay alive. I'm a single mom to two sons who need me. One of my sons is severely autistic and his needs are far greater than most people can imagine.

I'm a cancer survivor (cancer will always start with a little c fo me) and although I joined around Christmas 2009, I really got started with SparkPeople in January 2010. It's only been 3 weeks since I started working out and I already feel so much more alive and full of hope.

Why am I here? I need to stay alive. I'm a single mom to two sons who need me. One of my sons is severely autistic and his needs are far greater than most people can imagine.

I'm a cancer survivor (cancer will always start with a little c fo me) and although I joined around Christmas 2009, I really got started with SparkPeople in January 2010. It's only been 3 weeks since I started working out and I already feel so much more alive and full of hope.

I had given up and resigned myself to an early death due to diabetes. I was on massive doses of three types of insulin but my numbers were still out of control. I am known at my clinic as the woman with a triglyceride level greater than 1,000! If you want to see just how depressed I was, read my first blog entry.

If your just starting out and don't think you can be well, PLEASE think again. My leg muscles under all my flab were non existent due to muscle wasting and glucose not being able to get into the cells to supply them with the energy they so desperately needed. My whole body was racked with pain due to what the doc tells me is fibromyalgia. You name it and I have probably been diagnosed with it. Gall Bladder disease, Insulin Resistance, Fatty liver, PCOS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, MS, Neuropathy, Spinal Stenosis and more. Tell that to the lady who is now at the gym whenever she can get there and walked 3 miles all at one time last week and she will empathically say NO WAY! Disease will no longer define who or what I am. I refuse to be a diabetic anymore. Watch me make it happen!

I couldn't move let alone walk just 3 weeks ago. This past week, I walked at least 1.5 miles 3 times and walked THREE MILES at one time! Please if you doubt you can become fit and healthy - think again. Truly, if I can do it - I know you can too. Let's do it together!

My Goals:
My long term goal is to lose 60 to 100 pounds and not require massive insulin injections. My goal today is to abstain from mindless and emotional overeating.

Another goal I want acheive in January is is to complete a mile in 15 min.

My Program:
1200 to 1500 calories of self prepared vegetarian healthy whole food.

Exercise at least 3 hours per week.

Personal Information:
I know what to do but lack the discipline. I'm hoping this positive approach will create a spark in all areas of my life!

Other Information:
I'm cold here in Northeast Ohio and long for the warmth of my beloved San Francisco Bay Area and all my toasty friends and family still there!

Hi Deb! Sounds as though your working though the personal battles of weight loss and winning so far. Keep going, you can do it! Plus I am going to have to take your word and try the veggietarian restaurant.

Kudos to you for joining us here on the Raw Foodies Team. This will be one of the best decisions you have ever made. Sparkers come here and join this great team for a multitude of reasons. They may be curious about the health benefits of Raw Food and join to learn all about eating Raw. Many join for the weight loss. Many join the Team for a Detox. There are a great many people who do the Raw Food Diet as a Detox but then they realize how alive they feel and how the pounds melted away so effortlessly they decide to continue to eat this way. There are others who will join this Team for the health benefits of a Raw Food Diet. A diet based on raw food can reverse diabetes, arthritis (I personally have experienced this. I went off all of my arthritis meds after only a few weeks), heart disease, cancer (that is how I became involved with the Raw Food Diet when my sister was diagnosed with Lymphoma), eliminates migraines, the list goes on and on.
