Time to get Real!!!

I just turned 49 and I'm determined to be the healthiest and happiest I've ever been when I hit the big 50 next December. So, for me it's back to basics. Healthy eating, regular exercise, and tracking. I've lost and gained a lot of weight over the past 15 years and I will continue to start this journey over (and over and over and over) until I get it right! I've always focused on wanting to be a certain weight or wear a certain size. As I've gotten older I've started to realize that feeling ...

I've always focused on wanting to be a certain weight or wear a certain size. As I've gotten older I've started to realize that feeling happy and healthy are more important than a number on the scale. So, I'm starting over, with the ultimate goal of achieving a healthy and active lifestyle, and I plan to enjoy the journey :) Who's ready to join me?

My Goals:
My ultimate goal is to reach and maintain a healthy weight and an active lifestyle once and for all!!

Short term goals:

1) Complete the 10 minute daily exercise challenge

2) Track food and fitness daily

3) Drink at least (8) 8 oz glasses of water/day

4) Try at least 1 new healthy recipe per week

5) Write a weekly gratitude list

6) Complete the FIT Challenge 5K mud run on 4/5/2014

My Program:
Getting back to basics like healthier food choices, plenty of water, and tracking food and fitness.

I'm trying to get back into a regular fitness routine. I'm starting with the 10 minute daily exercise challenge, using my elliptical or recumbent bike.
I also got hand weights and resistance bands for Christmas and I plan to put them to good use! I'll be focusing on core and upper body strength training to prepare the FIT challenge mud run!!!

Personal Information:
I'm an RN and mom to 3 beautiful girls, 25, 22, and 14 and grandma to a beautiful, healthy baby boy. We live in Southeastern Massachusetts, about half way between Boston and Cape Cod. I love to travel, cook, read, and crochet. I'm also in school, working towards a dual Master's in Nursing and Health Administration.

Other Information:
I've struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember and have tried every diet under the sun!! My weight has yo-yo'd from 135 - 235 since the birth of my youngest daughter 14 years ago. I am determined to conquer this demon!!

I am back again and very happy to see how well you are doing! I had let work get the in way and NO MORE! I need to rededicate my committment to myself and better health. Congrats on your successes and drop me a note when you have a chance!! I would love to hear what you have been up to. I am restarting C25K again -- been away tooooo long. Hopefully, it will come back fast!

So how are you doing today? I got in a walk in the Wii for 30 min before work today, and I won't be walking for lunch, but got something in. We can only do the best we can, so how are you doing today? I hope you are well, and that this snow is gone for the season. I think it has stopped for the day here.......

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I am sorry the new job has you extra busy. I think spring cleaning counts as a workout so don't worry to much!!! LOL I know this snow is CRAZY. It isn't sticking here, but come on!!! Did you do any Wii Active lately? I might try that next week if my shoulder/arm is feeling better. I don't want to make it worse. We so have got this!!! Thanks again.
