Hello! My name is Debie and I'm 26 years old. I've been overweight for most of my life, even though I was very active in sports when I was younger. I've tried all sorts of diets, pills, and plans along the way, each time failing and gaining more weight. I know I have to stop looking for a diet, and change my whole life.
I joined SP in 2006 and followed the plan pretty closely for a few months, with no weight loss. I was actually pretty frustrated when a good friend of mine joined and she ended up losing quite a lot of weight (and looks great now!). Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy for her, but I can't help being jealous all the same.
In March 2009 I found out I was pregnant, which my husband and I had been trying for for 2 years. I was so afraid my weight would keep us from getting pregnant, and since I was unsuccessful losing weight I felt like a failure on both fronts. However, getting (and staying) pregnant caused a big turn around in my self image. I no longer felt that my body was somehow broken, and I loved showing off my baby belly.
During my pregnancy I only gained about 20 pounds, and I avoided gestational diabetes (which some doctors had suggested I was doomed for because of my weight). My beautiful baby girl was born November 3, 2009, and within 3 weeks I had lost 30 pounds. This is only the second time in my entire life that I've lost more than 20 pounds. I want to take advantage of this loss and continue it as far as I can.
- Workout for 30 minutes at least 5 times each and every week
- Make more foods from scratch
- Eat fewer processed foods

I've got to say, I'm kinda jealous, but it's my own fault--I had my son Oct. 20, and lost 24 lbs. out of 30 by 3 weeks after then starting eating WAY too much (4,000 calories-ish per day) and gained it all pretty much back. With my first I gained 15 and lost it all by 6 weeks after, and I guess I got a little cocky about this one (was thinking I'd lose it) and also a bit more stressed having two around the house.
lol, anyway, I wanted to say congrats on losing all the baby weight plus some. Keep up the good work!
