Hi. I'm 50, a proud gramma, dealing with menopause and lots of weight gain. I know that there IS a way out of this heavy body I'm carrying around everyday. I want my energy level back along with better health. I'd like to rid myself of back pain. I have alot of pain in my knees especially when I walk down stairs or try to scrub my floor. I've been on meds for high blood pressure and colestrol for a good 10 years.
I am thankful to be on this site with all of the information and support. My daughter referred me and she also has a page.
*Update 6/10/08
On 3/3/08 I took a job that requires me to be on my feet all day, bending, stooping and so on. I have lost 9 pounds, am not bothered with back pain and my feet don't hurt anymore. I was used to a desk job but this really got me up and running. My knees still bother me but I think the damage is done although I do believe my knees would be worst today if not for this job. Also, my whole body feels stronger!! I also drink water all day.

My Goals:
My goal is to loose 50 pounds. Once upon a time I was 90 pounds lighter than now and that was even after 2 children were born but I will feel so much better after shedding 50 pounds. My other goal is to get to the point that my body doesn't hurt so bad after walking or even climbing the stairs. My last goal is to just get myself emotionally back under control so that I'm not eating when I'm not even hungry. I want to be able to do some things I used to enjoy without it taxing my body so bad. I want my life back! I want to be able to run around and play with my grandbaby without looking for a place to sit down to rest for a minute, you know?


My Program:
Eat smaller portions. Be careful about what I eat. When I know I've had enough and feel the hunger pains, drink water, exert some energy and just keep telling myself how bad I want this. Walk 30 min and doing other things to get my body moving around more like cleaning the house real good and my exercise video. Also, walking or exercising is so good for lifting the mood. Oh, must I not forget all of the cute clothes I have that would be nice to wear again!

Hi, I'm Debbie. I have a 2 1/2 year old grandbaby girl. I have 2 grown children who are 26 and 23. I'm 51, going through menapause and just cannot believe I am so big. I have decided to face my situation rather than being in denial and not dealing with taking care of myself. I lost my dog, my best friend, Aug 2005. I guess it's an understatement to say I took it hard. Since Tucker has been gone, I've gained 30 pounds. I am now in a place that I have let him go and I also know he wouldn't want to see me like this. So no more emotional eating. I'm springing back and I can do it!!!

Anyone out there who enjoys reading novels? Anne Tyler is an amazing writer. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of her novels.
Also for you animal lovers, there is something for everyone on Animal Planet. I love animals and find them very entertaining.
