I had to give up this wonderful dog when I moved to an apartment in the city. I miss him.

I moved from this beautiful island into the city. Some ups, some downs about that.

My ex GF is into harness racing, and took me to his horse barn. This filly is his favorite.

In another life, I lived in Laguna Beach, California, and worked in the Orange County Superior Court as a Family Court Mediator.
In this life, I retired from that career in 1999 and moved to Maine and bought a small cottage on Bailey Island. In August, 2011, I sold my home and moved into the nearby city of Brunswick, ME. The reasons for that move involved my age, blizzards, heavy generators, weeding a long berm with lilac bushes in it and power outages. I found an apartment within a block of Maine St. in Brunswick. Now, I can walk to most places I want to go, or drive a short drive. I also found a wonderful, spacious apartment in an old 3 story house where I have the whole 2nd floor. Best part is, I have this huge (7' wide X 22' long) sun porch. In the dead of winter, if the sun is shining, I can sit out there comfortably. My cat loves it out on that porch, and if the sun is shining, she is out there.
Biggest downside of all this is that I had to give up my German Shepherd. He is living with an older man whose own German Shepherd had recently died. He lets Connor sit in the front seat of his truck ( which Connor would LOVE) and takes him everywhere with him. I could not keep him because of apartment living, and I do miss him a lot.
The move was pretty stressful, and I am just settling in. The job now is to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. I have begun line dancing lessons, and plan to start horseback riding lessons too. Volunteering is also in my sights.

My Goals:
I want to keep my weight to a reasonable level for my size and my age. Since I retired in '99, I gained over twenty pounds, and it felt miserable. 40 lbs were gone, but now 20 of them are back, so I am back to lose that and not gain more. Nutrition Tracker is a huge help.

My Program:
What I am doing to attain my goal is this - , go to the gym 3x a week, use my new Strider machine, walk to town when possible, and use the Nutrition Tracker to help me keep track of calories and fat every day. My defense mechanism of choice is DENIAL, & this keeps me honest.

Personal Information:
I grew up mostly in New England, worked all my adult life in So. California, and moved back to Maine when I retired. I enjoy reading, photography, antiques, yard sales, movies and dinner out with friends, and collecting Chinese snuff bottles.

Other Information:
As I said, I love to read, and my books of choice are mysteries, legal stories, medical stories, cop stories and intelligent romance books (they DO exist). Factoid no one knows: If I could have a wish, it would be to be able to ride a horse trained in dressage.

How wonderful to hear from you! I am seldom on here any more, but do check in on occasion. It has been a rough year of taking care of my mom. She has two different cancers as well as Alzheimer's. Otherwise most things in my life are quite good. Sending you best wishes for a wonderful 2013!

    Hi Deariedot emoticon

You are inspiring me to get back into Shutterbugs! I'm still taking lots of photographs. Working on assembling collages for doors, windows and fences that I discover in my county. Also have been doing some mini-photo/scrapbooked albums for my grandkids. Counting, color, and same-but different themes. Also working on a scrapbook for my son .. he's graduating and off to college in the fall. emoticon I will miss him .. but he is very excited about his new adventure.

Keep up the good work! Hope to get back to Maine someday ... it's definitely a very special place. emoticon
