I think I finally have got this thing down.

I joined SP in 2007. Lost some weight. Gained it back. Lost some again. Mostly maintained that weight loss. And then...

In January 2011 I was hospitalized for a week with a MRSA infection and abscess. The abscess led to a fistula and I've since had two surgeries to correct said fistula. This health scare led me to examine my eating habits, not for the purpose of losing weight, but for general GI health. I realized that even though I was eating "healthy", I felt like crap after I ate. I cut out gluten and then cut out all grains entirely. I met with a nutritionist out in Arizona and I no longer eat grains, legumes, or dairy. I don't track. There is no need. I eat grass-fed meat, wild-caught seafood, and local organic fruits and vegetables. I find that when I stick to this way of eating, I feel great, losing weight happens naturally, my mood is better, my menstrual cycle is shorter and my cramps are less painful, and my energy level is steady throughout the day. I no longer feel sick, tired, or uncomfortably full after I eat. I am no longer plagued with GI issues. I never get acid reflux anymore.

I think everyone can benefit from a Paleo diet and lifestyle. I would recommend checking out and googling Robb Wolf and Mark Sisson as a good starting point.

I have reached my goals for 2011 and am beginning to think about 2012. I think my goal will be to lose an additional 30 lbs.

My Goals:
I have accomplished my goals for 2011. My goal for the rest of the year is to continue to eat Paleo and to try new ways of cooking different vegetables. Sometimes with Paleo it's easy to get into a rut.

My goal for 2012 is to lose an additional 50 lbs. That will put me at my goal weight.



My Program:
PALEO! I recommend everyone read Robb Wolf's book about the Paleo lifestyle.

I eat grass-fed meats, organic vegetables and fruits, seeds and nuts, and a lot of coconut products (oil, milk, etc).

I find my weight loss sweet spot occurs when I limit my carbohydrate intake to between 50-90 grams per day.



Personal Information:
I live with my wife and 4 cats in the Northern edge of Baltimore City. We have a lovely little home and life together.

I giggle a lot and enjoy people who appreciate life and have a good attitude and sense of humor.








Other Information:
My personal interests include photography, reading, cooking, camping, pickling and canning, and natural pet care.
