I Started SP the end of Jan. 2009. Briefly, I have always had some issues with my weight. I had had some success with diets, most notably WW where I was able to get down to 138 very briefly and settled into 143 comfortably. My lifetime WW weight goal was 153 which was easily bypassed at that time.

Sadly, I made the huge dieters mistake of thinking of it as something with a beginning and an end and once I was no longer tracking all my food and exercise I fell back into old habits.

So in the years after WW I struggled just to keep from zooming totally out of control.

When I found SP in Jan. I was determined that this was not a diet. A beginning yes....the first day of the rest of my life sort of thing....but no end....this is a healthy lifestyle quest and it has to be habits that last forever. So at this point, I haven't met my weight goal quite yet....I have met a lot of fitness and appearance goals and I have met myself metaphorically and I really like this new friend.

I have a feeling Tony would demolish his tray of greens in short order and still be staring forlornly into the crate at mine. He is such a funny boy. I don't ever seem to have as many stories about the dogs as I do about him. emoticon

It's been a long time. Yes, my daughter is a big girl now. She just turned 9 years old.
We were feuding about my healthy eating choices and since I buy the groceries she was hungry for a few days refusing to eat but we're finally settling in and it's good for me to compromise. We're all learning together. And even better- it's a lifestyle change right? That means we stick together.

The project for craft night was fun. I am very happy with my end results. They appeal to the minimalist in me. That said, you should see what someone with an eye for color can produce!!

Thanks for stopping by my book blog. I definitely have searched for expert diet advice. Too bad I don't read the books. emoticon

I stopped by our library yesterday and in my wanderings, discovered "The Mature Mind" by Gene Cohen, MD, PhD. He's a gerontologist and this book is about four phases of development after age 60. It is an easy read and so far I am loving it.

When I first started caregiving, I read a book called "No Saints Around Here" by Susan Toth which helped me greatly. She cared for her husband with Parkinson's and the book helped me realize my feelings were all perfectly fine, no matter what they were.

Like you, I believe there is so much more to health than what I eat. And as for weight loss, the only diet that works is the one that works for me.
