PHEW Donna that you are OK !!! So many aren't which is very sad. I'm glad you received the help when Katrina went through. Now you are doing the "pass it along" of which they are so thankful for. TY !! As Jehovah Witnesses,,, we are always one of the first on the scene. As soon as it looks like something may happen,,,or unexpectly happens,,, the news goes out immediately. Almost various parts of each state, district is ready to move at a moment. Living in Maine a few years ago we got hit by one of the hurricanes. As it was winding all of us in every congregation from CONN and up got phone calls from an elder to check up on us. If we needed anything at all,,, they responded as they could. Some area's of NJ were hit very hard,, as were other coastal area's. Up here it was mostly roofs which were affected,, electricity down. I was fine, b4 it happened,,, of course we had notice we were also contacted to see if we wanted to relocate ,,, head west someone would happily put us up. No one around felt that was necessary. Mainers are a very hearty bunch of people,,, we had an ice storm back in 98,, ,affected the entire state,,,, many parts for 3 plus weeks had no services at all. Everything was closed,,, yet no one died,,, hurt from it. Most of us who aren't in the city (I am though in one) have generators,,, some of us in high rises have them,,, we didn't until then). We do just fine. Last fall we got hit with flooding in one area of Portland,, and in my city around where I live. Since I am on the 2nd floor,,, that's not normally a concern. For the first floor there was a little damage,,it was fixed fast. When the witnesses go to an area,,,, houses are fixed at NO cost and if a neighbor asks for help,, of course it's given,, again no cost. It's a terrific feeling knowing everyone is quickly taken care of.

TY Donna for the good wishes in regard to my featured blog. It usually BAFFLES me as to which ones and why they turn into a featured one. I just write from my heart,,, it doesn't matter to me if it's a featured one or not. When I write them they BOOST me UP and it's a positive way I have of helping myself to feel progressive and a personal PAT to myself on the back. When others read them and it helps them,,, that's a BONUS !!!

Are you around any flooded area's? I hadn't noticed if they are saying where you are is flooding. Man those POOR PEOPLE !! They are in my prayers. Only 20% have flood insurance that's SCARY !! If I were on the first floor here,, though we are NOT a flood zone,, I WOULD have it !!! It's SHOCKING to me how many live in this building who do NOT have renters insurance. In a high rise I figure the changes of something going wrong multiplies a LOT !! Though we have fire walls between the walls,,, floors, ceilings,,, and sprinklers ,, I DO NOT TRUST put absolute trust in this !! There are almost always 2 or 4 fires a year in here. Those who fall asleep while stuff is on the stove,, smoking , usually in bed (though we ARE a non smoking building,,, many DO NOT care ).
