The Momentum of a Freight Train

I started this journey in the early Spring of '09, but got sidetracked for a little over 3 months in the late Summer and Fall. I lost a little more than 40 pounds on the first try but put all of that and more back on during my hiatus from SparkPeople. NEVER AGAIN! I am back for good! I have updated my goals on the right to what I have ahead of me. The past is the past.

I have a lot of weight to lose, but I have more to lose if I don't. I have a wonderful family (beautiful wife and two fantastic boys). They are the reason that I'm taking on this mountain of a task.

Ultimately my goal is to lose around 200 lbs from my highest weight of 375 and end around a healthy 170, but I'm going to take it in small pieces and enjoy all the milestones along the way. I know I can do it. I know I have to do it. I lost my mother to diabetes when I was 13. I will not leave my family the same way when there is something that I can do about it.

So how did I get to be 370+lbs? I really don't know. I never saw it happening to myself. I know what caused it. Lack of activity and serious food addictions. I just don't remember moving up in weight or pant size, it just happened. Then you wake up one morning and look in the mirror and realize what you've done to yourself.

NO MORE! I am not going to allow myself to be Fat Dad anymore, I am going to be Fit Dad.

I am going to focus more on logging my thoughts in my blog so I can look back and see where I've been. The Journey will certainly have lessons for me.

Hi, It's good to see you back!! The New Year is a great time for new beginnings-reminds me of these verses from the Bible-

Lam 3:22-23
"It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new EVERY morning: great is Thy faithfulness."

We are given a new chance each day! And, as God is forgiving, we have to forgive ourselves for our past poor choices & strive to make better ones ahead!!

Hope you and your family have a SParktacular New Year!!

Good to see you back, but not to sound depressing, but you need to set your ticker to your real goal, not some step along the way.

Sorry, I don't believe 350 is what you want to weight. Just saying, my friend.
