Hi, I'm David. In early 2009 we had a "biggest loser" weight loss challenge at work. That is what got me going. I hit a plateau after losing about 15 - 20 lbs., so I decided to kick things up a notch and started running.

I found a good training program at http://www.coolrunning.com called "Couch to 5k", C25K for short. The program is designed to help just about any couch potato be able to run 5K over the course of 9 weeks.

I've stopped or drastically decreased my mileage a couple of times due to heat and humidity or lack of motivation to get out when it's cold or rainy outside. Each time I stopped running, the weight would start creeping back.

I am sick of being stuck at my current weight and am really making an effort now to motor on with running to rev up my metabolism and start shedding some more pounds!

My Program:
Watching calories, watching carbs. Trying to run around 4 - 6 miles every day.

Other Information:
One of my favorite authors used to be Dean Koontz (until he sold out to the publishers by writing crappy sequels). I don't have much time to pleasure read, but recently I have been listening to books in mp3 format while I run. Can you suggest a good replacement for Dean Koontz? So far, I haven't found someone that can keep you on the edge of your chair like he can.

I hate the waiting list, I am so impatient. Glad you are enjoying it. I should find my copy and re-read it.

I would start with Relic which is one of the Pendergast novels. It is also a really horrid movie which made me put off reading the book for years. The book is really good so if you have seen the movie do not judge the book by it. Still Life with Crows is a later one with Pendergast in it that remains one of my favorite novels. Everything I've read by them I've enjoyed.

Have you read anything by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Childs? They have wrote some very entertaining and suspenseful novels.

Hi, David! Thanks for your comment, and the tip to the runnersworld.com tool. I checked that out, and it was VERY helpful, as well as the articles and such on that page. Thanks so much for that!
