Time to get Re-Sparked

I have been Sparking now for just over 4 years now. I was sick and tired of being so overweight I couldn't enjoy life.

About two years ago, I had some life events happen which caused me to leave this site. First was a horrible bike crash that kept me off my bike for about 16 weeks. Then the next 5 months were spent finishing up my dissertation and getting my Ph.D. After that, I have to admit, I got pretty lazy about all my exercise and nutrition.

The predictable results were that I gained back most (not all) of what I had worked so hard to get off. That's the bad news. But I am not going to 'beat myself up' for it - I am just going to get back on the horse, so to speak, and re-focus on all those great habits that got me fit in the first place.

I started my refocus efforts with a '60 for 60' bike ride with some friends - 60 miles for my 60th birthday. It was a great way to spend my 60th birthday - and a great way for me to get 're-sparked'

This is 'I have taken my life back' part 4 - I'm excited, but I'm also taking it one day at a time - I know how to do this!

Onward!

Dr Dave

UPDATE: Another year and ANOTHER horrible bike crash - this one will lay me up for at least 3 months! Maybe it's time to try a safer form of exercise:-).

My Goals:
- Lose 40 more pounds on the way to losing more than 100 pounds in order to live a much more healthy lifestyle again.

My Program:
It's back to the bike - of course! I hope to supplement my riding with some swimming, and some weight training. But it was my passion for cycling that helped me shed 80 pounds, and I am going to return to what works.

I have learned that becoming healthy (and losing weight) is a holistic process of nutrition, hydration, exercise and sleep.

Personal Information:
I live in Seoul, South Korea and work with a IT contractor for the US military. I'm not very comfortable with revealing to much personal information, so if you want to chat, you'll have to send me a spark-mail.

Other Information:
I believe that learning to love yourself, love others, develop meaningful relationships, and laughing alot are the most important things in life.

Hang in and hang on. I know you are going to get back in shape. Don't let me race walk past you on your bike.

Good job Dave! Keep going emoticon

emoticon emoticon emoticon The Motivator of the Day.

Jack LaLanne lived to age 96 and worked out two hours every single day. His dad died at age 50 from heart failure and Jack was a sickly child, so he knew he had to work hard as his odds weren't good. He showed what a positive attitude and hard work can do. Jack always said you can't work your body to hard because it just gets stronger to meet the challenge you give it.
