SparkPeople helped me five years ago to lose 65 pounds and I'm back once again. My main goal five years ago was to lose 115 pounds but had to stop when my hair started falling out from losing weight too fast and not pacing myself. I guess you could say I'm an all or nothing type of person, feast or famine. After letting my body heal from that drastic weight loss, I got sidetracked by my new life and, although I still watched most of what I was eating, I did relax my guard somewhat and also took up smoking at the same time, unfortunately. Last year was an extremely stressful year for me and I packed on 15 pounds again so now instead of just needing to lose 50 pounds I need to lose another 65 pounds. I guess it could be worse. I could have gained back the WHOLE 65 pounds instead of just 15 pounds AND I did quit smoking which accounts for most of the weight gain STILL I hate having to lose some of the weight I lost five years ago. However, I decided this year that I'm going to finally make my goal. I'm going to go slower so if it takes the whole year then that's fine by me. As long as I'm losing and not majorally gaining, I'll be happy. Plus, my company is running a weight loss contest for all those who are participating and it's called after the hit series, "The Biggest Loser". Since I will be doing this with my other co-workers, I have a little extra motivation to keep me going. The nice thing is that I find it easier to re-adopt my old and better habits from five years ago then when I first started this journey then. I'm happy that I was able to maintain most of my weight loss in all those years and will be smarter this time around then I was back then. My whole goal is to feel stronger, healthier and more energized than I have felt in a long time. SparkPeople has changed quite a bit since I was last here but they are all good changes and I love it more now than I did back then. I think that having your own SparkPage like on Myspace is a wonderful idea and plan to keep mine and make new friends who are going through the same struggles as me. God bless you all and may 2009 be your friend and mine! :)
