I have never been so excited to start a Life Style change! Today is February 25th, and I did not have the motivation to start eating healthier for my New Years Resoluton. Last week, was the beginning of Lent, and I really did not feel at that time I had the motivation to eat healthy for 40 days. Now, I feel like I can do it for the rest of my life!

I have been a yo yo dieter since I have been in my teens. Lately, my Yo has been much more up than down. I have joined Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and Medical Weight Loss over the past 25 years. I have had success on WW three times, only to gain it back again. Seven years ago, I lost 50 pounds, only to re-gain 60 back. I have watched the Dr. Oz show last week, where he introduced the "Dash" diet. This basically eliminates all processed food from your diet. I started on this plan 5 days ago, and already feel perkier. I used to have terrible indigestion at night, and I have not had that since starting this plan. I did not realize that Spark People has it's own diet plan (I have so much to learn). My cholesteral is borderline high, and I would really like to get that down to an acceptable level.

My husband could lose about 130 pounds. He loves Fast Food and insists that I make a fatty dinner filled with "comfort" foods including dessert every night. I am hoping that after seeing results with me, he will make the commitment to change his eating habits. I love to cook and bake, and eventually will try to make our old favorites healthy. We have two teens, who have grown up learning an unhealthy lifestyle, I hope, they too can start eating more healthy.

My second biggest problem is excercise! I have some weights, and a Dance DVD that I plan to start using soon. When the weather is warmer, I plan to walk every day.

I am amazed at all of the resources available to me through Spark People. I think the food tracker is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. I love how it computes calories and breaks it down into total fats and carbs combined. I have always disliked jornaling my food manually at WW. But most of all, I think the support of others who have traveled this road before me, will be able to help me reach my goal. I hope to have my own success story, and in turn encourage others with their dreams.

My Goals:
1) To lose 30 pounds by my 50th Birthday. in May

Lose 50# by my husband's 50th birthday in August.


2) To continue to lose at least 2-3 pounds a week, until I reach my 100# weight loss goal.

3) To start exercising! Dust off that old Dance DVD. And when the weather breaks, start walking.



My Program:
To start:

Eliminating all processed food from my diet. Increasing drastically the amount of fresh fruits and veggies to my diet, along with lean protein

Once I lose 50#, learn to make meals more interesting by learning how to make old favorites healthy.

    Motivation comes and goes...I've lost my motivation many times, but we just have to keep pushing even when we don't feel like it. We can't give up on ourselves! So keep up the good work, and have a successful October!
