Looking for a new start

Hi I'm Dave and I am looking for some inspiration to lose my excess weight. I have slipped into a junk food habit, resulting in a large weight gain. I am looking to turn this around with the help of SparkPeople.

My Goals:
I would like to lose about 50-60Lb initially and would hope to do this within the next twelve months.

My Program:
Number one, I have ditched the biscuit (cookie) barrel.
I am starting to eat more fruit and veg and no longer visit the take away.
I am also walking short journeys now instead of using the car.

Personal Information:
I am 65 years old, recently retired and live in Kingston upon Hull in the UK.

I have two Children, Michael and Nicola, and three grandchildren Katie (11), Lucy (8}, and Rhys (5)

Other Information:
I am a keen photographer and like photographing shipping. As I live in one of the major UK ports this is very rewarding. I like Country Music and Sci-Fi films and books. My favorite book of all time is J R R Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. My favorite Country Artists are "Steve Earle", "Willie Nelson", "Nanci Griffith", "Iris Dement" and although she is not strictly country I Love "Lucy Kaplansky" and have seen her live a couple of times in Sheffield UK.
I am a supporter of Hull City AFC (The Tigers) who currently play in the English Premier League.

Kudos to you for joining us here on the Raw Foodies Team. This will be one of the best decisions you have ever made. Sparkers come here and join this great team for a multitude of reasons. They may be curious about the health benefits of Raw Food and join to learn all about eating Raw. Many join for the weight loss. Many join the Team for a Detox. There are a great many people who do the Raw Food Diet as a Detox but then they realize how alive they feel and how the pounds melted away so effortlessly they decide to continue to eat this way. There are others who will join this Team for the health benefits of a Raw Food Diet. A diet based on raw food can reverse diabetes, arthritis (I personally have experienced this. I went off all of my arthritis meds after only a few weeks), heart disease, cancer (that is how I became involved with the Raw Food Diet when my sister was diagnosed with Lymphoma), eliminates migraines, the list goes on and on.

So join us and learn how to make the transition from SAD (Standard American Diet) to a healthy Raw Food Diet. You will be happy you did!

Thanks for the flowers! It was kind of scary with the high winds. Weird thing is you'd hardly know it now. Thanks again!
