Since my teenage years, I have waged a battle with food and keeping myself fit. Since my teenage years, I have waged a battle with food and keeping myself fit. Where friends could stuff themselves at McDonald's and laze their weekends away, I had to eat healthfully at home and do aerobics every day just to keep close to my optimal weight range. It was frustrating to feel like I wasn't "normal" and it set me apart. I started a family young as well, and being married and a new mother really cut into the time I took for myself. My exercise and eating habits worsened with age. That has continued over the years to the point where I don't really recognize the person in the mirror anymore. While I take great pains to make sure my kids exercise and get their fruits and veggies, avoid the worst pitfalls of junk food and soda, I have seriously neglected myself. I had a recent wake-up call when I was diagnosed with hypertension, and it helped me reevaluate my priorities. I didn't want to be on medication for the rest of my life, and I was tired of walking through my days like a sluggish zombie. My health provider suggested this site, and I really like what I've seen so far. I hope to use it as a tool to a healthier, happier lifestyle so I can enjoy my 30s as I should be doing, so I can keep up with my kids while they are still young and at home, and so I can go into middle age with a good handle on my health and how I treat my body.

After avoiding the camera for years, I finally broke down and took pictures of what I really look like, which I am posting here. My best friend and I did it together so it would be a less painful experience. This is the last time I want to see myself that way and will be updating pictures as I progress on my journey.

My Goals:
I would like to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle. I would like to be able to climb 4 flights of stairs without feeling like I'm dying. I want to be able to run again without feeling like something is going to break.

My Program:
I am concentrating on adding healthier foods into my diet, including veggies and fruits. I am eating when I am hungry, instead of when I'm bored or stressed. I am working hard to exercise every day. I am following the suggested guidelines for nutrition and exercise here at SP.

Personal Information:
I will be 33 this year. I live in a small town in rural Kansas with my husband and 3 kids. I love animals and currently have 7 cats that graciously allow my family to live with them.

I love to read, watch quality television (which means not much), and play World of Warcraft with my husband and our friends. When time allows, I also paint digitally and manipulate my own photos in Photoshop.

Other Information:
I am a medical transcriptionist to pay my bills, but I am working hard to make the dream of being a writer a reality. I am about a third of the way through writing my first alternate Earth fantasy novel.
