Changes that last a lifetime

I have been overweight all my life. In the summer of 2002 I finally thought that I was going to conquer the obesity demon. I was walking 30 min morning and evening. I was limiting my intake and I was losing two pounds a week. I actually went down from 280 to 260. However college and fast food came and with that came my highest weight to date: 303 in 2007.That really scared me and made me realize that I could not let it get any higher. I currently
(May 2008) weigh 288, which is a 4 ...

I take my weight loss one day at a time. Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. But as the old spiritual says I try to make my good days outweigh my bad days. As the new year started, Something clicked in. I want to make changes that will last a lifetime in all parts of my life including my physical health. I don't want it to be a fad. I am on here looking for sources of encouragement and inspiration.

I got involved with Sparkpeople.com by accident. I am a member of mypoints and it was opportunity to gain points by joining sparkpeople.com but this website has been such an encourager for me. I am glad that I signed up and will continue with it.


***** January 2009-- I am reintroducing myself to sparkpeople. I was doing real in the summer of 2009 and went down from 280 to about 257 then I just stalled. I told myself that it was to be expected but the inner me knew better. I lost my motivation, my drive. I didn't like going to get weighed and not seeing the scale move. I started back to my bad habits of eating at the fast food restaurants every day and sometimes every day. I went from going to the day 4-5 days a week to 0. This all basically happened between October to December and it let to a 10 pound weight gain. I thank the third that it was the full 30 pounds. SO, now after the new year I am back when a great new outlook on the year and how I am going to finally shed these pounds forever..

Weight Loss Goals

Goal #1: Since starting grad school in May 2008, I set a small goal to lose 15 pounds by July 31st, 2008. I only weigh myself every two weeks--just in case I do wrong the first week, I won't feel bummed and do worse the next week. (DONE AND THEN SOME!!!)

Goal #2: To be as close to 250 pounds by 22nd birthday (August 25th)... DIDN'T QUITE MAKE IT BUT I DID GET TO 261!!!

Goal #3: To be as close to 250 pounds or at least be in a size 18 or 16 by Christmas**I don't remember the last time I was 250.


****New Goals as of 2009

1st Goal-- 10% of body weight (27 pounds)

My plans for this goal is to get back to the basics...which means,
-waking up earlier and walking which leads to an increase of my water intake
-more fruits and vegetables
-less fastfood, especially the greasy ones that taste so good but not good for me.
-POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Starting Weight in May-286

July 3rd-271 ( In July of last year I was 300 pounds...amazing)
July 31st- 263** ( I made my 15 pound goal and then some!!)
August 21th-261
September 30th-261 (kind of bummed about it but I have been strength training for a month or so I am trying to stay positive)

My Goals:
My current goals are simple:

* Drink plenty of water (8-10 cups a day)
* Eat more fruits & vegetables-- at least 2 or 3 of each
* portion control
* do some sort of cardio 40+ min 5 out of 6 days a week (Sundays are my day off of exercise)
* limit my fat and sodium intake (the Lesser the better)

My Program:
I exercise at Planet Fitness 3-5 days a week. I do cardio and lower/upper strength training. Sometimes, I jump rope and do jumping jacks. I use the ellipitical machine and the treadmill. I like to just move as much as I can when I am at work...tapping my foot, walking the long way to the bathroom...I think that everything counts.

I recently gave birth to my son, and I am very happy and blessed he's my first baby!!!! I had him on Feb 11th of this year. How are you doing?
