I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone for your positive feedback and kind words. I am so happy that I have inspired others. It's hard to believe that I was once looking for inspiration and now I am inspiring others! Like I have said, I still struggle with eating right and exercising sometimes, and it does help me to know that you guys are so supportive. I wanted to be honest and tell everyone that I suffer from depression, panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. There are still days when it is hard for me to get out of bed, or leave the house, but I know that I have come this far and if I can do it, I know you can do it too. So thank you for supporting me and in turn I hope to motivate you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Well, I thought it was time for another update. Quite a few big things have happened for me recently. I have an article on Huffington Post about my weight loss and now I have an interview about my weight loss right here on Sparkpeople on the Daily Spark. I knew I could lose the weight but I didn't think that I would be recognized for it. It has taken a lot of trial and error to get to this point. I still have a few pounds to go to get to my goal weight, but even once I reach it I am not done. I still have fitness goals that I want to accomplish. I have to remember, this is a lifestyle change and I am going to live it. One of the biggest motivators for me on Sparkpeople was seeing the other successful Sparkpages. Now I am one and I hope to help others realize that it is possible to lose the weight and keep it off. YAY! I have 13 pounds until I reach my goal weight. It's been a lot of trial and error up to this point. I have been experimenting with new exercises and different eating habits as well as changing the amount of calories that I consume. I have started doing High intensity interval training a couple times s week to a couples times a month. I also do strength training a couple times a week. I found that the key to keep me exercising is to change it up when I get bored. I don't limit myself to one type of exercise. I have done everything from Tae Bo to yoga and anything in between. I have found that you shouldn't force yourself to do an exercise routine you're not comfortable with and whatever exercise you choose to do should be the one that makes you feel the best and something that keeps you exercising. I have also found that food is a fuel but that doesn't mean it can't be tasty, and that you shouldn't deny yourself from sweets and treats. No foods should be off limits but everything in moderation. I am still learning many things on my journey and challenging my body to do things I didn't think it could do. I love my lifestyle change. I didn't ever want to be heavy when I was younger I just didn't think that weight loss and maintenance was possible for me. I still have days where I struggle, everybody does, but I don't let that hold me back from getting back on track. This is a lifestyle change, and one I know that I can stick with. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~It's been a while since I've written anything on my Sparkpage. I'm down to the last 20 pounds and let me tell you it's getting pretty tough. I've come this far though and I'm ready to lose the rest of the weight and keep it off for good. All I have to do is push myself. Stay active, eat healthy and eat within my calorie range. It may not always be easy but I decided to make this lifestyle change and I'm committed to sticking with it. I wasn't skinny or in shape before but I always wanted to be. I am going to realize my dream and keep it that way. I will have another update when I get down to my final and maintenance goal weight. Here I go!
I have now lost over 100 pounds 20 of those recently have been lost since joining SparkPeople. For the first time I feel like I can really be active and eat healthy and feel like I am still being me. For the longest time I felt as though I needed to be eating if I wasn't doing anything. The first few weeks of not just mindlessly snacking was a little uncomfortable. I felt so weird not eating in front of the T.V. or grabbing a bite to eat after I went shopping, or before, or during. Snacking was my security blanket. Eating had had always been comforting but often it didn't make me feel good.
What about exercise you say, when I was younger I was full of energy and bouncing off the walls. My parents divorced before I went into kindergarten. Living with just my mom we would often eat junk food together. Once I started school I was just slightly heavier than most of the kids in my class. Over the years I started gaining more weight and by the time I was 11 I weighed 208 pounds. Needless to say I hated gym, I dreaded it. I was always slower than all the other kids and when we finished exercising I was always more exhausted than everyone else.
Through my teens my weight would fluctuate but I always stayed in the 200s. Then in 2006 I met my current boyfriend. I was 16 and around 220. When I turned 18 I moved in with him. We were a young couple just starting out on our own. We didn't have very much money, it was the first time I had been on my own, and I lived 30 miles out of town, away from my family. In the deep depressing Alaskan winter months I turned to food and sleep. I remember going to the doctor steppping on the scale and seeing 280. That was my wake up call. I had no idea that I had gotten so big, I was almost 300 pounds!
I decided to eat less, and try to get in a little exercise when I could. I made it down to the 190s in December of last year. It was the first time I had been under 200 since before 5th grade.
In October of this year (2010) I joined SparkPeople to help motivate me and give me the knowledge to lose the weight and keep it off. I have learned so much. I actually enjoy exercising and controlling my portions. I have learned to chew my food thoroughly and eat slowly enjoying every bite. This is a lifestyle change NOT a diet. Thanks to SparkPeople and the support of my family I have learned that I don't have to be the fat chick. I can be healthy and active and still be me. In fact a better me.
I still have between 35 and 50 pounds to lose, and along the way I would like to continue to build up my cardio and strength endurance. I want to be able to be active, eat healthy, lose the weight and keep it off for the rest of my life not only to look good but to be happy and healthy as well.
I suffer from depression and anxiety. I was an overweight kid, and now I am an overweight adult. I want to lose the weight not only to feel and look good, but to improve my health so I can enjoy life. I ballooned up during a deep depression, and I have lost over 80 pounds since. I have 30 or so pounds to go, and I feel like now I can lose it, I just need extra motivation.
