Bookworm Hidey Hole

Time to get a handle on this crazy little thing called life. I spent a year trying to make 42 work and, despite Deep Thought's assurances to the contrary, it was disappointingly not the Ultimate Answer. At least not to mine. Nor has 43 been. And since I'll soon make headway into 44, I think it's time to try a different tactic.

Time to get a handle on this crazy little thing called life. I spent a year trying to make 42 work and, despite Deep Thought's assurances to the contrary, it was disappointingly not the Ultimate Answer. At least not to mine. Nor has 43 been. And since I'll soon make headway into 44, I think it's time to try a different tactic.

I live in the Blueridge Mountains of North Carolina, not far from Asheville. It has been some years since fibromyalgia came along and kicked me to the curb. That's brought about no few significant changes and more than a little therapy to gain "acceptance." Hah! Right. So not happening.

Things I do? I read, I research, I puzzle out story ideas while somehow failing to do anything with them, I read, I attend a support group, I eat (sometimes while reading), I enjoy my three kitty cats, I do things with friends (which too often includes eating), I go to health-related appointments (regularly), I watch movies, I read some more, and I sleep but without adherence to any kind of schedule no matter how hard I try. I listen to music during most of this. Except the reading (unless the reading is research) because it's hard to focus on a page with words to a favorite song filtering through the synapses.

And, alas, I also spend an inordinate amount of time in bed or on the couch thanks to my health. I hope this changes. I so desperately want it to change. But it is my life. For now. But it is hard to hold out hope when my last day worked was New Year's Eve 2007. Still. As the saying goes, "Do what you can, not what you want." Want to know what my Can-Do is?
