Hi, my name is Dana Welsh. I am originally from Matewan, West Virginia, my husband John and I along with Molly who is our family pet and our little girl now call La Vergne, Tennessee home sweet home. June 2014, will be 5 years for me to be cancer free. I am so thankful for being here in Tennessee. I think that the success I have had fighting the battle was being here where I have had the best doctors, nurses, and the most information that I could have ever received in West Virginia. Oh I miss home...and there are some days I wished I could go back there to live, but I don't think it will ever happen.
I work for American HomePatient in Brentwood, Tennessee. We have offices all over the United States Down deep I know I like what I'm doing, but my goal is to become a Nursing Home Administrator. One of my goals this year is to find out more information on how I can make this happen for me. I know I can make this happen....I just have to set my mind to it and just do it!
My husband John had a really tough year in 2013 and my hopes that 2014 will be the year for him. He had a fistula put in his arm back in the early part of the 2013, diagnosed with Kidney failure, he has been put on a list at Vanderbilt for a Kidney transplant. He had open heart surgery back in October of 2013..three blockages 75% each. He did really good with the surgery and I am so proud of him. He has a few other issues, that I hope we can get taken care of soon...I think God will bless him and he will heal him.
A big goal is for John and I to find a church. A church that him and I both love and where we feel welcomed and included. We want to become involved and help people find something that we have been looking for for a long time.
I'm trying to stay motivated with my weight loss. I am now at my biggest weight ever. 308 pounds. I'm having problems with my knees and my legs, and just being able to do things that I normally done without any problems. I have to do this. My long term goal is to loose about 110 pounds. My short term goal is to start small and stay motivated. I CAN DO THIS!
Looking forward to meeting new friends and hopefully one day I can be a help for someone who's having the same problems I am having today.
