UPDATE: I'm 27 now :) I've been in FL for about 3 1/2 years. Joe and I are still going strong, and I've completed my associates degree. I now work in a very nice spa on a local resort. I finished the C to 5K training program about a year ago, which was a big step for me (Not long before I moved, I had broken my tail bone, and running was a painful impact. Not anymore!). I've done a few 5k's since, but wanted to really kick up my running.I began running 3-4 miles 2-3 times a week. So, I decided ...

So, I decided that I want to do the flying pig marathon in Cincinnati, Oh on May 1st, 2016. I started a marathon training program and just completed my 3rd week (Wow... 27 more to go!). It's a very long program, but I wanted to build myself up slowly. I hadn't decided on the flying pig marathon at first, but realized that it was right about the time I would finish training. And I feel like it'll be amazing to do my first marathon in my home town, with my family to cheer me on. And if for some reason I feel like a marathon is too much, I can always do their half marathon (I don't think it's going to be a problem though). I'm dead set on doing this. I've been running on schedule, rain or shine.

(I'm using the Hal Higdon 30 week training program. I will, however, need to mix and match a little bit, so I can add hill training. Training in Florida, which is extremely flat, is going to make my race in Cincinnati difficult. But there is A hill that I was just told about the other day. So once I figure out the whole hill training thing, I'm going to give it a shot on my area's single hill)

My name is Dana. I'm 24 years old and really trying to get myself in shape. Again. I live in Florida, but I've only been here for 6 months. I moved down here to live with the love of my life, Joe :) I'm originally from Ohio. It's been difficult for me since I moved because my whole family lives there. And I miss them a lot. I sometimes have a hard time when I'm driving to school. I look up and see the palm trees with the blue sky behind them, and I realize how far from home I really am. That I can't just drive down the street and see my mother, or my sister, or my niece. It tends to hit me like a ton of bricks every time. But in the time I've been here, I've accomplished a lot. I've gotten my skin care license and I'm currently enrolled in school for my massage therapy license. In about 10 months, I'll have earned my associates degree in Massage therapy and advanced skin care. I'm working in a local spa, where I'm building my own business (I'm the only esthetician, so it's my menu and prices). And things are going wonderfully with my boyfriend. Sometimes I wake early and cuddle closer to him, and my puppy comes and cuddles closer. It's literally my heaven :)

Hi Dana!
Thank you for stopping by my page! This was my first marathon but I have been running long distance for a while now. (only getting up to 15 miles though) After running a really good half marathon I thought, what the heck... might as well keep going!

I researched different training plans on line. I wanted to find a rookie training plan for a beginner. There is so many plans out there but I found this one worked best for me:

http://www.marathonrookie.com/

I used a 16 week program and I think it went really well. I didn't have much soreness and I was able to work on speed and still get in my weight lifting on the rest days. (I stopped heavy weight lifting though once I hit week 10)

Are you training for a full marathon?
