Tired of Excuses

I've been fighting my weight for most of my adult life. When I was in high school people would make comments that I looked heavy but at that I simply bought very large clothes to hide huge boobs. Gradually I grew into the clothes I bought because nothing ever felt tight as I gained the weight. I had breast reduction surgery to feel better and exercise easier but by then the weight seemed out of control. I have over 70 pounds to lose and feel overwhelmed at where to start. I tried lots of diets without sticking with them because I wanted quicker results. It took a while to pack on the weight and it will take a while to lose it but I am ready to make the move.

I'll be walking the 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk in September 2008 in the Twin Cities. Please donate if interested by following the link below:

My Goals:
My long term goals are to lose quite a bit of weight, however I need to take smaller steps to feel like I am winning the battle. I have IBS which makes adjusting my diet hard at times but I won't use this as an excuse. The more strong and healthy I get the more I can keep my body regulated and in somewhat control.

My Program:
I need to increase my protein intake and decrease my intake of white foods -- I have found that white foods, among other things, set off my IBS. Protein keeps the IBS in control and makes me more focused and alert. I need to increase my exercise, working in a weight routine along with ample amounts of cardio.

Personal Information:
I have a small child and a husband. My husband is working with me so we both will lose weight but we also need to watch how we talk about it to avoid making my daughter too aware of body weight but focus on health and good habits.

Other Information:
I enjoy photography, laughter, friends, watching my daughter reach new heights, watching my husband let our daughter paint his toe nails, dreaming, flowers, waterfalls, sand between my toes, and sunshine on my face.
