Hi! I''m a 69 year old woman who wants to stay as healthy as possible so I can continue to enjoy my "Golden Years"! I lost 60 pounds my first year and 30 pounds the second year and had been maintaining that weight loss with the help of Spark and my FitBit! I gained 10 pounds after a wonderful once in a lifetime month long trip to Europe in September 2013 and have been struggling since. But I haven''t given up once. I just keep getting up and trying again. Finally, with the help of Sparkpeople, Judith Beck's book THE BECK DIET SOLUTION and the Spark Beck team, I reached my goal weight on Jan 13, 2016 for a total weight loss of 95 pounds. I lost another 5 pounds by February 20, 2016 for a total loss of 100 pounds.

My Goals:
I wanted to become more active and obtain a healthy weight. By 2011 I reached a plateau of 90 pounds lost and stayed around that weight until August 2015 when I found the Beck Diet Solution. I started losing weight again and lost 100 pounds by February 2016. I have enjoyed learning to eat a more healthful "clean" diet. I worked on my weight loss 5 pounds at a time as I was getting closer to goal. Recently, I had decided (with my doctor's encouragment) to take a "losing break". I continued to eat healthfully and to stay active and see what happened to my weight. I weigh daily and will continue that to ensure that I stay in a 5 pound range. I started running in 2011 and raced 3 5Ks and one 2 mile Turkey Trot. Because of back pain from degenerative disc disease I had to stop running. Now I do Zumba 3 x week!

My present goal is to maintain my healthy weight and lifestyle for the rest of my life.


My Program:
I am tracking daily and using the fit bit to log my activity. I have explained a little of the program to my DH who is helping me cook. He is retired. I took a healthy cooking class in 2010 after I was laid off from my nursing position. We are making much more healthful meals . I have been becoming more active since starting Spark and am enjoying a healthier life style.



Personal Information:
I live on the Front Range of Northern Colorado and spend lots of time at our mountain cabin where I have started trekking. I am married, have 2 grown children, 2 grandchildren, a Golden Retriever and a cat.


Other Information:
I love to read, hike, swim, bike, walk and spend time with the grandkids. My new hobby is healthful cooking . I was laid off work Sep 1, 2010 and wasn't able to find another job so I just retired on my 65th birthday 5/10/12!

    Thanks for the blog support. Yep. I can see how a relapse could be a powerful tool if I learn from it. One thing is for sure, I don't have even a touch of the hopelessness that I used to have. It is just another motivator.

    I'm doing the Spark sugar challenge also. I find it amazing how much sugar is in everything.
    I mostly am writing this on your page to let you know that what you have done is amazing. I hope to lose 100 pounds also on this journey.

    Congrats on the additional pounds off. I am working on inches now. And reading Beck Blue. But not a chapter a day...mostly as I feel comfortable with the skills she teaches then I move on. She goes more into depth and it is still very interesting. So glad I found this.
