Getting My Life Back After 50

Hello Sparkpeople! I turned 52 and decided to join Sparkpeople. I am overweight, not sure by how much as I hate to weigh myself, and have high blood pressure. I'm looking for support and encouragement, as well as tools to help me objectively monitor what I'm doing. I think many of us know WHAT to do, it's finding some way to keep yourself going that's difficult. I hope I can find that here!

Welcome to the 50+ Females. I am 55 years old and I recently lost 120 lbs. It was not easy at times, but don’t give up. I still have another 45 lbs to lose. I have not lost any weight in the last few weeks. It gets better when you eat properly and incorporate consistent exercise. Good luck on your weight loss journey.

Hi and welcome to SparkPeople and our 50+ Members, Cholesterold Support and High Blood Pressure Teams where you will receive lots of support and encouragement from everyone. Just post any prayer requests, questions, comments or suggestions you may have and someone will respond quickly.
You have come to the right place. Take advantage of what Spark has to offer. I want to see you accomplish your goals. Stay focused and keep a positive attitude as this will be a great help to you in your daily life!!! Smile although sometimes that is the hardest, but it really helps!!! And, if nothing else, it makes people wonder what you're up to.
Remember to just take one day at a time on this journey of a lifetime. This journey consists of many small steps, a few speed bumps and pot holes, and a lot of fun. I will be here for you and try to help you on this journey to your goals. YOU can do this!!!
Watch your portion control. Be sure to drink plenty of water (8 - 8oz glasses a day) and walk. Water and walking will help you on this journey of weight loss and lowering numbers. Start small if that is all you can do or have time to do and add to it as you are able. Even 5-10 minutes several times a day adds up to bigger numbers and will keep you moving. Invest in a good pedometer (about $10) and see how many steps you currently take each day. Before long you will be adding steps just to see how many you can do and how far you can go. WHAT A GREAT MOTIVATOR!!! YOU can do this!!! It's good to meet and have you with us.
God bless you on your journey to a new beginning. Take each day as it comes and enjoy it to the fullest!!!
God's blessings to you.
Hugs,
Helen

"If you planted hope in a heart today in any hopeless heart,
If someone's burden was lighter because you did your part,
If you caused a laugh that chased a tear away,
If tonight your name is mentioned when someone kneels to pray,
Then your day was well spent."
