"A pebble laying dormant on the earth is rarely noticed, but one tossed into a pond makes waves that cannot be ignored. " -LRR Highest weight: 311 November 2008 SW: 280 GW: About 150 About me: *Weight Loss Journey* For about a year I was a Curves member. On the side I was doing dvds. I started with Leslie Sansone's Walk away the pounds. 1 mile was hard, but I did the mile for 3 weeks, then moved onto the 2nd mile. I built up to the 5 mile. I did other dvds. I would look for dvds everywhere! At yard sales, thrift shops and even discount stores. About 6 months after, around 230 pounds, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism. I feared (and still fear) that this will impact my weight loss. That I won't lose more weight, that if I reach my goal that I will not maintain and will regain it...but even so, I am going to kick Hashimoto's butt for picking me as the victim...in fact I am not a victim! :D Around summer of 2009 I started doing the Shred with 5 pound weights. Probably not the smartest thing? I loved trying new exercises, like Pilates, so the Shred was just like that to me. Only, I discovered that it left me very sore. And it was more fun than Curves! I discovered that I had really outgrown Curves and that I could buy hand weights and do dvds for my strength routine. I could make new routines to challenge my body and prevent boredom! I was about 180 when I quit Curves...so about 100 pounds lost since joining them! Since then it has been harder to lose weight. I know it is not due to quitting Curves though. I have continued to try new strength dvds like Kathy Smith, and No more trouble zones and bootcamp like BL dvds. *Currently as of January 18, 2011* I am currently still doing workout dvds in my basement, riding my stationary bike. I am researching equipment and plan to either buy a Total Gym or a Bowflex. I've been doing dvds such as Jackie Warner, Jillian Micheals Kettlebell and Yoga dvds, and Bob Harper's New Inside Out dvds. I am seeing exercise not just as a way to burn calories for weight loss anymore, but as a means of a healthy lifestyle to keep myself fit to do things like walking or jogging in the summer. Foodwise I am just focusing on eating healthy. I no longer really count calories...bad I know. Instead I try to eat when hungry and eat a variety of food. Don't Quit When you've eaten too much and you can't write it down, And you feel like the biggest failure in town. When you want to give up just because you gave in, and forget all about being healthy and thin. So What! You went over your points a bit, It's your next move that counts...So don't you quit! It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change. It's learning the skills to get back in your range. It's telling yourself, "You've done great up till now. You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow." It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal. You're still gonna make it, just stay in control. To stumble and fall is not a disgrace, If you summon the will to get back in the race. But, often the struggler's, when loosing their grip, Just throw in the towel and continue to slip. And learn too late when the damage is done, that the race wasn't over...they still could have won. Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow, but facing each challenge will help you grow. Success is failure turned inside out, the silver tint in a cloud of doubt. When you're pushing to the brink, just refuse to submit, If you bite it, you write it....BUT DONT YOU QUIT!!!!! Rascal Flatts Stand Lyrics Songwriters: Daly, Eric Blair; Orton, Dan Earnest; You feel like a candle in a hurricane Just like a picture with a broken frame Alone and helpless Like you've lost your fight But you'll be alright [Chorus:] Cause when push comes to shove You taste what you're made of You might bend, till you break Cause its all you can take On your knees you look up Decide you've had enough You get mad you get strong Wipe your hands shake it off Then you Stand, Then you stand Life's like a novel With the end ripped out The edge of a canyon With only one way down Take what you're given before its gone Start holding on, keep holding on [Repeat Chorus] Everytime you get up And get back in the race One more small piece of you Starts to fall into place Ooohhh [Repeat Chorus]
