Onward & Upward

I am a high school teacher who has "retired" twice, but I keep going back because I love it so much. I'm now considering retiring again (third time's the charm?), but I'm not completely happy about it. (Update: I didn't. I'm teaching one class face-to-face and one class online--perfect...just enough to keep my hand in.)

Because I'm still teaching, I'm quite active when I'm at school but then pretty much turn into a potato when I get home.

Because I'm still teaching, I'm quite active when I'm at school but then pretty much turn into a potato when I get home.
At the tender age of 68, my weight has marched steadily upward for probably the last 10-15 years until I'm now in the seriously overweight category on my BMI.

My overall goal is to get down to a healthy weight so that I feel better in general and don't shorten my life unnecessarily. I have LOTS of head knowledge about healthy eating and weight loss but so far haven't been able to summon the motivation to put it into practice.

Mindless grazing is a terrible problem for me. I don't seem to be able to walk through the kitchen without stuffing something in my mouth and sometimes just stare into the fridge or cabinets looking for something to eat when I'm not the slightest bit hungry. When I do retire again, this will be a huge problem for me because, of course, I'll be walking through the kitchen all the time.
