Focused for 2009!

I have always had a love hate relationship with my weight and overall appearance. Just like many of you out there, I've struggled with weight issues, yo-yo dieted, and have gone through great extremes in the name of weight loss. The only difference between then and now is that I am in a completely different state of mind when it comes to how I view weight loss. Just like many of you out there, I've struggled with weight issues, yo-yo dieted, and have gone through great extremes in the name of weight loss. The only difference between then and now is that I am in a completely different state of mind when it comes to how I view weight loss. The new me views weight loss as a lifetime journey; one void of quick fixes and short term solutions. I now know that if I want to see minor changes in how I look and feel, I need to be that change and work both mentally and physically towards reaching my long term goals.

Today is a new day and I am focused more than ever in reaching my goal towards living and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.


WEIGHT LOSS GOALS FOR 2009

Nutrition~~~

1. Follow a combination of Rick Gallop's "GI Diet" and Tosca Reno's "Eat Clean Diet".

2. Eat 5-6 meals daily

3. Eat every 2-3 hours

4. Eat between 1500-1800 calories/day

5. Stop eating at least 3 hours before bed (7:00pm)

6. Ensure that main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) follow appropriate ratios 40, 40, 20

7. Try and eat a salad daily, particularly at dinner (at this point, cut out the complex carbs for the day).


8. Avoid sugar like the plague!

9. Stay away from processed and refined foods-junk food, white rice, pasta, and bread...and of course my sinful delight-CANDY!

10. Drink water daily...In my case, according to my body weight (90oz of water).






Fitness~~~
1. Exercise 4-5x/week by doing a combinations of fitness DVD's (Tae Bo, Turbo Jam and Ripped)

2. Incorporate strength and core training 2-3x/week (mostly circuit training)

3. Try and go for walks on off days in order to stay active.

My Goals:
To lose 50 pounds in the next 6 months (Between November 2008-and June 2009)


My Program:
For nutrition I am currently following Rick Gallop's, "GI Diet"...My diet generally follows along this path:

5-6 meals a day

Eating foods from Ricks suggested Greenlight categories (mainly Fruits and veggies, protein-legumes, and lean meats, wholegrains, and good fats

Drinking lots of water (I drink according to my body weight-about 13 8oz glasses of water)


As for Fitness, I'm working out 5-6 days a week. For Cardio, I'm currently doing DVD's-Billy Blanks' Tae Bo and Jari Love's Ripped to the Core.

For strength training I either do Jillian Michael's 30 days shred or a circuit training program using a variety of strength training exercises with weights, jump rope or my own body weight.

Hey -

I haven't talked to you in a bit so I'm just checking in. How is everything? I'm doing okay, weight loss has slowed so I have work a little harder now to get the pounds off. Other than that life is good, I am still laid off and looking for a job, but God is good and continues to provide for me and my family. Hope to hear from ya soon.
