Starting a Vegan/Raw Detox
March 6, 2013 Tomorrow I will begin eating vegan and will do so for the entire month of March. I have been craving sugary foods much too often lately. I have been wanting to try vegan for the longest time, but just didn't think I could handle such a drastic change in my diet. Well, I've been practically vegetarian for most of this past year (eating meat occasionally), so now I think I can finally step it up a bit. Wish me luck! I will post regularly to let you all know how ...
I will post regularly to let you all know how I'm doing, as well as document my progress. I uploaded a recent photo (March 2013) showing myself in tight fitting jeans and a snug top. The jeans are size 12 and the top is large. I will take another photo wearing the same outfit in a month. December 31, 2011 Thanks to my sister-in-law (love you, Patti), I am back on Sparkpeople and plan to be here daily again. I do love this site, so I don't know why I leave for long periods. I do know that the more connected I am here, the more I tend to stay on track. I weighed today and I am down almost 50 lbs. I currently wear a size 12 (will post a new pic soon). I am aiming for a 10, and who knows... maybe an 8? I can honestly say I have NEVER been a size 8 since adulthood. Sad, right? 2012 Goals: Lose another 20 lbs and hopefully wear size 8. Agressive, but I know I can do it. Incorporate more agressive strength training into my routine and practice yoga at least twice a week. As Arnold says, "I'll be back"! July 2011 I've had a difficult couple years trying to keep my weight down recently. After surgery, I gained over 30 lbs and really wondered if I could lose it. I really became serious in January 2011 and yay...it's working!!! I exercise an hour every morning before work, and I walk during lunch. I've been basically eating "clean", except Saturdays during which I allow myself cheats. As a result I have lost over 30 lbs. I would love to lose another 15 lbs by the end of this year, which is very doable. I am adding serious strength training to my routine. I know gaining muscle will help trim inches, but will show as a gain or stall on the scale, which is fine by me. Wish me luck! October 2010 I had surgery on my rotator cuff and I must say that is a long recovery period! I admit I have become a couch potato since injuring myself, going through physical therapy, surgery, more physical therapy, and so on. My surgeon has finally given me the green light as far as exercise goes. I plan to be very agressive. I have 30 lbs to lose! Goal #1: Lose 15 lbs by Thanksgiving. I will weigh in every Monday morning. I am choosing Monday because hopefully this will encourage me to be "good" on weekends.

My Goals:
Build muscle and lose fat until I reach a healthy range (25%?). Become so accustomed to following a healthy diet, it becomes second-nature for me. I will no longer crave sugar and fast foods. Be an attractive, healthy and physically fit middle-aged woman! Remain free of the need for any ongoing medication.
My Program:
1. Keep my calorie range where it should be. 2. Make at least 90% of my meals/snack healthy choices. 3. Keep exercise as one of my top priorities. 4. Remind myself daily that I "must" follow my program.
