Yes, We CAN!

Twelve years ago, I lost 160 pounds with the help of WWs. And then it dwindled down to about 40, despite various attempts to reverse the trend. Sounds terrible, but we're only talking about something like 10 pounds a year. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GAINING AND LOSING WEIGHT IS ACTUALLY QUITE SMALL!!

Since starting to actually use SparkPeople in February 2012, I have gained and lost my share of weight... but overall, I'm down 25 pounds, plus the 40 I never regained which equals a not-too-shabby 65 pounds lost!

Yes, I'm a big person, but not nearly as big as I used to be. Check out the picture with the Gateway boxes below! It's close to my highest weight..

I would, however, LOVE to get back to my low weight... see grad picture at left. This would mean that I would need to lose about 100 pounds. But I know I can do it, because I've done it before.

Last time, it took me exactly 365 days to lose 100 pounds. And it wasn't that hard!! Honestly. I just had to track my food EVERYDAY without exceptions or starting over. Even if some days are a little high, it's ok but everything has to be documented to make the intention strong.

I think the reason the weight loss with Weight Watchers didn't stay off well is because I didn't have the right nutrient balance. I have been shocked to discover on SparkPeople that I wasn't eating enough (complex) carbs and (good) fats!!! No wonder my body complained so much. No wonder my brain fogged over!

I'm always looking for more SparkFriends... love to hear from you. I also like to cook and bake and I have recipes to share... click on MORE and then Favorites on the drop-downs above.

Best wishes to all on our journey. We CAN do this!! I know we can... because I've done it before. Knowing what's possible is a HUGE advantage!! As the late, great Bill Wright always said... YES WE CAN!

Do you like my background? It's a collage from my flock of "electric sheep." These fractal-like creations attempt to answer Philip K. Dick's question: "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" The full collage is in my photo gallery :)

Thanks for another nice comment on my blog! How are you coming with the tomatoes? My project of the day is "tomato jam," inspired by an episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." I'm going to have to quit with the canning soon, almost at the end of my jars!

Thanks for your comment on my blog! I hope that your knee heals quickly so that you can do the walk again! I know that I want to do it again, and I'm hoping that the next time my husband can join me (he has an inflamed tendon that flared up again so he wasn't able to walk this year.)
