Although some of this text was originally written in 2011, it still holds true today. I allowed work, family, activities and life to get in the way and be the excuse for falling backwards. Well I have picked myself up, I am focused on re-instating good eating habits and consistent exercise.

Background: I have been overweight on and off for my entire adult (and adolescent) life and I was tired of making excuses for being overweight. I have 2 loving and active pre-teen/teen children and I want to have the energy to be able to keep up with them.

I started my journey in January of 2011 at just under 200 lbs with great success; I married in October of 2011 and was below 150 lbs and felt AWESOME!..and then after slipping back close to my highest weight, I began again in January of this year. I needed to get back to basics and decided to start with 1 simple goal in mind; implementing permanent healthy eating habits, in other words, eat healthier and you will be healthier! I enlisted family, friends and colleagues to support me in this lifestyle change. THIS IS NOT JUST A DIET.

I remain encouraged and vigilant in my pursuit of making this a permanent change. Of course this does not mean that I don't indulge from time to time; on the contrary, I allow myself to celebrate on occasion with family and friends, guilt-free, knowing that the next day, the habit of eating healthy would be there. This time, balancing my nutritional needs and wants seemed more natural and less of an all-or-nothing sort of goal.

Being healthy is my main motivation...that feeling as good, perhaps even looking as good as I did on my wedding day. :)

My Goals:
This is a lifestyle change, NOT a diet.

My ultimate goal is to be fit and healthy which includes a body weight of 150 lbs. Or lower.
My goal for 2016 is to be 160 lbs. And to make exercise a daily routine.


My Program:
1. Love and accept myself
2. Think like a thin person
3. Enjoy life and food WITHOUT guilt - let go of the all-or-nothing attitude
4. Eat mindfully and enjoy REAL food
5. Track my calories, carbs, fat and protein
6. Drink at least 8 cups of water per day
7. Exercise at least 20 minutes a day
