I want to be a lesser me!

I turned 50 in June 2007 and I need to get rid of this middle age spread. I am not happy with the current state of my metabolism, weight, shape or muscle tone. I am taking steps to improve these areas.

Our new winery is up and running. Check us out at www.tigermountainwinery.com

My Goals:
Walking 5-8 miles/week

Drink WATER

Stay focused

My Program:
Cardio 30 minutes 3 x weekly

Strength training 3 X weekly

Walking every work day at least 20 minutes and using the stairs at work.

Personal Information:
I live outside Seattle and work in the downtown area. I have about a 60 minute commute every day depending on bus schedules and traffic. SInce I work 9-hour days this really cuts in to my available free time.

I have done really well with low carb eating in the past, but my husband was sick of it, so I stopped. I tried the lower fat method - but it just doesn't work for me. I started Atkin's Induction again April 16, 2007 and immediately lost 10 lbs. I need to figure out a way to get a workout in my busy day and not drop the ball elsewhere.

My job keeps me pretty sedentary - I review patient data for cancer clinical trials. I am at the computer all day. This with my age and lack of regular exercise are adding inches to my mid-section.

Other Information:
On top of our 'day jobs' my husband and I just started a winery in our garage. This is another little project that is eating away at my free time. We have been making wine for about 7 years and were bonded by the Feds in 2006 to go commercial. It's exciting and a little scary at the same time.

Hey Susan (wink, wink)!

Good to hear from you. Yes, I too need to get off the arse and get moving.

Gained lots of weight (about 20lbs) since my best friend died last year. Finally just now starting to get out of the emotional eating and realizing it is not good for me. My rebel inside was saying "F-you. You can't tell me what to eat or drink." Well I was only hurting myself. Dah.

What is sooo hard right now is that I gave up alcohol for 60 days. And it is the seasonal beer time. Grrr. Working through it because the results are motivating.

And don't get me started on wanting wine. Which by the way, I had gone out to your website awhile back. Are you still making wine?

Love your booty and get up and walk.

Have a great weekend, Curly. :-)

Hi! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you! I dont get notifications for some reason and I havent been on here much due to some personal stuff.
Thanks for asking about my hand- I almost have full movement of my forefinger at this point so it is taking a while, but slowly getting back to normal. I have some ugly scars, but that is ok!

How is life up North??? I went to lunch with KD a couple of weeks ago and found out that you two got to meet, isnt it fun to meet Spark friends?!

yep, the boot worked, I can't remember how long I wore it, but at least a week past when the pain stopped. That as well as icing it, stretching it, muscle strengthening exercises, and never touching the foor barefooted until it was healed totally (I had a pair of slip on sneakers I used as slippers in the house). Now, of course I am barefoot whenever possible, but have never had a recurrance and that would have been about 13 years ago. Good Luck, I know it is very painful.

emoticon You're so right Curly - change is stimulating. It's giving me a purpose other than my health. I needed that, and hope to run on it for a very long time. ;)

xoxoxo for stopping by.

It's raining in my world, and sis, who lives in Puget Sound, says it's loverly up there right now. Good. You guys deserve it, and I hope you're getting some sun. :)

I appreciate your support on my recent blog entry re: Nina. I'm glad to have found her. You haven't updated your blog in a long time. How are YOU doing?
